BMW 316i - $50,900 RRP

damn thats cheap... same spec level as the 318d but 1.6L turbo 4 as per 116i/118i
Driveaway price probably $56k without options?

Will sell well I reckon, just say no to 16" wheels though!!

I think people will still jump at that price for the badge.

A lot of people who would look at this car would definitely not be looking at performance. Dealers will probably be getting these into the car yards much like they populate the yard now with 318/320/320d. To each their own I guess,,,

I reckon the 320i is a great car - I drove one for about 3 weeks and was surprised at the level of equipment offered (as standard) as well as just how flexible the engine is... I was never really left wanting for more power

The 316i I guess will feel like the E90 320i (which was s-l-o-w), although the engine's torque comes on pretty low which will certainly make it faster than it's predecessor

At $51k for a solidly built BMW, I wouldn't say people are buying for the badge, I say they are getting a great value car with lots of tech, safety, engineering, luxury (somewhat)... and the badge.

Yeah... $51k in base spec, but if you optioned it as per the couple of images in that article (Sport Line, 19's, Bi Xenons) and add onroads, dealer delivery etc.. you will easily be pushing $66k which for what is a low power, low option car.........

well make your own mind up, how much is the roundel worth!

Suddenly the 320i seems like a middle of the range 3 series with reasonable power. If sedans based on the 1 series ever become a reality it will be interesting.

These days, it seems anything could happen. 1 series sedans, bmw and their obsession for "gran coupes", "GT" versions of sedans....

I reckon 7.3s to 100 for the 320i is actually quite fast for a sedan.

Got to say I have seen heaps more F30 around Melbourne and 90% of them are 320i and 320d.

Yeah true, that's actually pretty respectable.
