Rogue F10 M5 SSK (short shift kit)

After many months of design and development work, IND is happy to announce that the Rogue Engineering F10 M5 short shift kit is complete! IND worked together with Rogue Engineering to develop a shifter solution for the manual M5s, dramatically improving the shift feel and throw for fans of the traditional manual driving experience.

Rogue's brand new M5 short shift kit is designed from years of experience building BMW shifters, and addresses many unique shortcomings of the OEM shifting system that are often left ignored with more basic short shifter solutions. From the shift carrier on, Rogue has improved on BMW's own shifter design.

Rogue's modified BMW shift carrier raises the pivot point of the shifter, allowing for a shorter throw while maintaining the appropriate shift knob height. The carrier also perfectly centers the shift lever, giving the correct shifting geometry, ensuring a smooth feel. Delrin carrier bushings round out the carrier, and give the shift lever itself a stable base with no deflection, for added precision. A special selector rod also allows for better a properly aligned shift mechanism that is compatible with the shorter throw.

And the iND 6-speed M-tri color boot

Nate, there's not many people left to look out for us dinosaurs! It looks like great work as usual. I'll post some pics after tomorrow's install.

I should get mine tomorrow, actually pretty excited to see what it does to the car. Needs it from 1st to 2nd thats for sure. Does the auto-rev feature still work in sport more? How long should my mechanic charge me for this install?

Thanks..

We're looking forward to the photos! I am in the "you can pry the manual trans from my cold dead hands" camp, so you can expect IND to continue supporting manual M5 owners for many years to come.

The auto-rev feature will not be affected, and your tech should bill you for about 3 hours of labor to perform the installation work.

Upfront disclaimer, I have no experience on the F10 kit. However, I put Rogue's SSK on my E39 M5 with their weighted selector rod and high performance tranny mounts and the improvement was amazing. I can vouch for their design effort and quality manufacturing.

Generally speaking (not just for this F10 unit), do Short Shift Kits break in over time? For example, if they start out notchy and a little tight after install, do they loosen up a bit over 1-2k miles?

Thx

FYI, I purchased this for my 2016 F10 M5 and it didn't fit. My mechanic worked with Ben from Rogue and sent pictures. They said all looks fine but didn't know why it was hitting my tunnel. In the end they refunded my money and even the labor to try and get this installed, but hopefully this will save others that stumble across this thread some time.

Odd. I have this kit in my F10 M5 and it didn't hit anything. That said, I'm not, was not, entirely happy with the angle on the shifter after install. It seems to angle away from me instead of towards me, if that makes sense.

DAMN! $749 USD for this.

I have SSK in all of my other vehicles and am tempted for my M5, but damn that is a lot of money... especially considering how devalued my local currency has become...

It does look like a quality piece though.
