2007 Z4 Aux Input kind of crappy and low volume

Yes, I adjusted the Aux boost to +5 the max and it's still kind of like that.

It's also missing big parts of the low and high end of the frequency range compared to playing an Mp3 CD or regular CD even. The same song over AUX from an iPod vs. reading off an Mp3 CD has noticeable chunks of the frequency range just completely not there at all.

This is on the non-prem system.

Any ideas on how to improve sound quality?

Is the IPOD OEM input cable have better sound quality than over AUX?

Well it is an AUX cable so dont expect CD quality sound. If you're using an iPod turn the sound 4/5 of the way up on the iPod I've found that makes it easier to get a good volume out of the stereo. The stereo gets grainy if it's up to high. I have my AUX at level 3 and it works fine.

Well I expect it to sound pretty good considering the AUX input on my aftermarket Pioneer unit in my track 325is sounds great from AUX.

It's not so much it doesn't sound as good as CD, it's that entire ranges of the sound spectrum are simply missing.

Forgot what the button is, but the one that adjust bass/treble/balance press that a few times in AUX mode and you'll get to AUX Level

Are you plugging in the Aux cable to the headphone jack on your player? That is normally the reason for poor sound through an AUX input.

Try to find a way to get a LINE level output and your results will improve. For the iPod, Monster has an excellent charger that provides a jack for line level input to the aux port.

Ipod Dock Connector to 3.5MM Cable (aux)

This direct connection is the best possible quality you can get from a car's stereo from an ipod.

Definitely not.

Just installed the DICE kit. It's about 4 million times better now.

Before you say that I'd check out the HK Drive and Play which is what I have.

Sounds great and I have full Ipod control
