Anyone replace front speakers on stock head unit?

Just want to know if anyone directly replaced the front stock coaxial speakers from the headunit (no amp etc).

Did you get better sound quality? If so what type of speakers were they?

Cheers.

Your talking about the base system?

It's been done before. I'm sure it sounds better than stock, but don't expect a huge improvement. The problem is the eq is tweaked to make up for the lack of tweeters, so when you add tweeters the treble is too loud. Some speakers let you cut the treble by 3db, this would help.

The other issue is better quality speakers are usually less efficient, and the stock head unit doesn't have very much power to begin with.

Nope, apparently a pair of tweeters was too expensive for BMW.

Yes surprising that other german manufacturers give better audio systems at significantly lower prices.
