engine coolant low?

Well, last night I hopped in my car around 3:00am and after starting it, my "low engine coolant" light came on. No red lights, just yellow.

Well, I let the car run for a minute and then turned it off then back on. No more warning light. I got home, parked (too dark to check coolant unfortunetely).

Any idea why it would turn itself off after restarting the car?

You should go get it checked. I got the same warning: Low Coolant Level, and took it to the dealer so they can top the car off with anti-freeze. Take it to the dealer and have them check it, you've got nothing to lose.

You never know if you have a leak somewhere, better to take it to the dealer to get your concerns out.

The reason it went back off after shutting off and restarting is because the coolant heated up and expanded. So it sees a higher level on the restart that falls into the acceptable zone. This same thing happened to me the last couple of days. Cooler weather coming in can cause this to happen, and it just needs a little top-off. Fill it up with some distilled water and wait till it happens again before you worry too much about a leak. It probably won't take too much.
