E90 Laser Interceptor Install

I just finished up my install of the BMW edition laser interceptors and took some pictures along the way. I wish I thought ahead and took some pictures for a diy but I didn't. Most of these I just snapped along the way. I did the basic install except I wired a blinking red LED as a visual alert, used a different power switch, and extended the wires for the 12v switched/Ground and the actual switch itself.

The most time consuming part was probably extending the wires. Normally they wouldn't need to be extended but it was because of where I wanted to mount everything. For example, I wanted the power cable getting power from the same source as the radar detector which was in the glove box. I soldered the connections, then used heat shrink, and in some cases finished off with some electrical tape. The first picture is how the heads were mounted last night which looked awful and not very level. I redid it today and although it's slanted on left to right because of the grilles, it is as level as I could get it front to back. Cliff from lasertinterceptor suggested I buy brackets so I did that and i'll be reinstalling the heads using the brackets once those come in. I am also planning on wiring in a parking assist switch in case i'm driving in Virginia or South Carolina.

Anyways instead of writing i'm just going to post all the pics. If anyone has any questions on how I wired anything, or suggestions/criticism of my install, please feel free to post.

Also sorry if some of the pics are blurry. They were taken in the garage so lighting wasn't great and the shutter speed was slow.

Also wound up burning myself with the soldering iron which sucked:

Nice install I guess but is all of this really necessary? Seems like a lot of money and work. Hope the jammers work out for you

Cool. I just cant justify paying over 500$ for a jammer setup. My v1's just enough for me

That's fine and all but a V1 is useless against LIDAR. If you live in an area where LEO's use LIDAR, it's probably "worth" it. If not any quality RD should suffice. One of my saves actually came in CT, on my way to Stamford.

Oh nice!. Im here in Greenwich so not far from there. Never had a speeding ticket as of yet.

100% necessary at least for me. I bought this off a member on here for $400 shipped then did the install myself. As @DSC_OFF said a radar detector is completely useless against Lidar. Just one speeding ticket would outweigh the cost of the jammers if you take into account the price of the ticket then the insurance hikes. Again although for some it might not be necessary, i'd rather know i'm protected from Lidar as oppose to knowing if I get hit by a state cop or the Greenwich motorcycle cops, i'm done.

I think you might change your mind once you get hit with laser by a trooper and get a ticket

Thanks man! My only part that concerns me is that they are not level left to right when looking head on. It's not really possible to get them level since the grilles themselves are slanted... That first pic was as close as we could get and wasn't even near level. That's why i just redid it and stuck them to one side. Forgot to post a picture of how they're stuck now so i'll put that below. Again they're not ideal since they're slanted in the grilles but only way to have them perfect on that axis would be sticking them out far and having it look awful.

Not yet. I pmed a few but most either havent answered or said they only do it in big meet groups. One of my friends is getting some jammers soon and then we might rent a gun for 3 days for $160. I might just wait for that and then split the rental with him

PM me I'll beat that price. Unless you have a specific gun in mind. What would be real helpful is if you knew what type of guns they use in your area.
