Another misfire thread

Hey guys so I'm still stuck on this annoying misfire. It says misfire cylinder 5 on the scanner..I changed the coil and it still gives me the code after deleting, hpfp and spark plugs were changed 2k miles ago, vanos solenoid was changed 100 miles ago. I did change the alternator the day before the problem begun. The engine keeps shaking and making a clunking noise. Only when it's cold it's undriveable. I have to keep turning it off and on then it drives normal and the power of the car is there. It's starting to become very annoying. Also, the reason why I haven't even looked at the injectors is because they had a recall on them about 10k miles ago so I don't think that will be the problem. Has anyone experienced this? Anything will help guys, thank you.

IIRC don't you need to change the Teflon seal if you take out an injector, which requires a special tool to apply the seal? And then don't you need to replace both retention clips since they are one time use?

Well I had something similar, where the misfire was isolated to one cylinder. I did the same thing and replaced the coil and I still had issues. So I then swapped an old plug I had kicking around and everything worked fine. When the dealer replaces a coil, they are generally instructed to replace the corresponding Plug. I think when the coil goes it might somehow take out the plug as well.

It's worth a shot if you have an old plug kicking around.

worked for me.

Okay guys I believe it's a air leak, when I was installing back the coils and stuff, I was doing an injector swap and a hose with a clip from the injectors to another entrance wasn't click on to the pipe so I believe it's a air leak as 5 and 6 spark plugs were black big time and not the other ones, I took some pics I'll post it once I get home!

Okay guys here are some pictures...It was loose in the begining and imo i think it is still loose. But i guess it wasnt clicked onto the pipe in the beginging so i need some opinions on this. Is it suppose to be loose or is it suppose to be tight? Any feedback will help! thanks everyone for the help!

That is a check valve for one of the PCV systems and it should be connected to the valve cover.
