Heavy white smoke on start
I've noticed a bit of white smoke on cold starts.
Tonight, leaving the gym, I noticed HEAVY white smoke. It went away after the car warmed up a bit. Any ideas what it might be? Turbo seals?

or partially burned oil... What oil do you use?
I have been having similar issues, I'm sure my car burns still a bit of oil but by switching to BMW certified 5w40 it went away in terms of fumes. (I used to drive with 5w30)

Well,
-The puff of heavy white smoke -Wastegate rattle -The intermittent "half engine" light (came on once a week and went away when I cycled the engine All seem to be related. BMW NA replaced my turbo's and vacuum lines under warranty. I no longer smell burning oil, have any smoke, or get any check engine lights. And the biggest difference is my car actually sounds like a turbo car. No more rattle/buzz from the turbos when I slow down. Instead, you can hear the turbos spool up and slow down.
