Heavy white smoke on start

I've noticed a bit of white smoke on cold starts.

Tonight, leaving the gym, I noticed HEAVY white smoke. It went away after the car warmed up a bit.

Any ideas what it might be? Turbo seals?

or condensation.

As Jaykayelemenohpee said, if it smelled sweet, probably coolant. If it smelled like exhaust, it's just condensation.

or partially burned oil... What oil do you use?
I have been having similar issues, I'm sure my car burns still a bit of oil but by switching to BMW certified 5w40 it went away in terms of fumes. (I used to drive with 5w30)

Well,

-The puff of heavy white smoke

-Wastegate rattle

-The intermittent "half engine" light (came on once a week and went away when I cycled the engine

All seem to be related. BMW NA replaced my turbo's and vacuum lines under warranty.

I no longer smell burning oil, have any smoke, or get any check engine lights. And the biggest difference is my car actually sounds like a turbo car. No more rattle/buzz from the turbos when I slow down. Instead, you can hear the turbos spool up and slow down.
