USB stick for mp3s....wth

I just bought an 07 E92 w/idrive/nav today and I have the aux jack and 2 usb ports in the center console. Both usb's charge my phone but neither usb port powers up 3 different sticks I have tried ranging from 4gb to 16gb. I have read threads on here and I have reformatted them making sure they are FAT32. Still no go. Any ideas?

Basically I plug it in and get no lights on it like I would on my computer. And also under entertainment, I don't see an option for usb, just aux, sat, etc.

I don't know how I missed this thread

Let me ask though, if your drive isn't compatible, will it still power up in the console?

The center console should only have one USB and should have a spring loaded cover, and it should be right next to the AUX.

Sounds aftermarket to me.

That two USB port might be one if those dual charging car adapter plug into the cigarette power

Sounds like your car doesn't have 6FL. Which means you can't play mp3's from a USB stick in the car.

6FL provides a single USB port and AUX jack on a single plate. As the others have mentioned, you probably have a dual port USB charger plugged into the power outlet in the center console.

You have the CCC iDrive correct? Yours is the same as mine in my '06 and they are not very sophisticated. Look up CCC iDrive here or Google for better information. 2 USB's means they are not factory.
Does yours look like this? Our CCC iDrive actually looks like this but without the USB port shown, only the AUX input. This is actually what a CIC iDrive looks like.

Yup called in with my VIN and verified it, the usb is def aftermarket. The good news is that the nav drive can play dvd-r.

I take it the music disc will have to come out when nav is needed
