e85 70%

I'm fbo on friday.Can't wait)))
I defenitely want to try E30 maps, but as far as i know the best way to use e85 is PTF. And i defenitely want to deal with them, but for much higher mixtures of e60 or e70.
So the question is which upgrades i need?
Lpfp walbro 455?
What else is needed? Please chime in!

You’ll need a LPFP upgrade, whether you choose an inline or in-bucket solution is up to you. You should be able to get into the E70 range with just that, and then the appropriate tuning of course.

To just run and tune off of E70, yes all you should need is something to up the PSI for LPFP. Again, inline or in-bucket will alter costs, flow, labor required, etc. Terrys forum has a lot of info on the two methods. Assuming you can provide the fueling required, PTF will be able to tune for E70 no problem. It doesn’t take much to run a lot of E85, which is one of the advantages of the fuel.

Inline is DIY. In-tank is DIY technically, but i've read over so many people who have tried and failed to correctly install it. Any time you remove the OEM pump from the bucket, you better be thorough on the replacement or it could fail. Inline is the superior solution in my opinion.

You don't need PTF. Just load the e30 maps, change the scalars for e70, and enjoy. A protune (such as from PTF) will make it even better.

This is assuming you have an upgraded LPFP.

From the outside looking in I wouldn't want to deal with the potential head aches of the in tank option.

No. The in-tank is a replacement pump and the inline is a supplemental pump.

Just a thought. How do you know you need inline, LPFP etc? Have you logged FP ? I run e65 - e70 daily on all stock components. Any more than that I lose FP on extended pulls.

You run E70 on stock fueling? How does LPFP PSI do? Trims?

Some people have been able to get away with e50, but more than that and you start to get very tight on fueling.

Did you try contacting PTF yet? I'd imagine they'd be able to answer most all of these questions lol logic, how does it work!?!?

I've been running E50 on my stock fuel systems and I've been hearing about people upgrading their pumps, but what exactly is going on? I've read through Terry's forum about the inline fuel pump option, and I've also read about people using HPFP and LPFP? Are there two pumps in our system? And what's PTF? Can someone please give me a quick run down?

Stock fueling simply runs out of flow with higher % of ethanol. So you need to upgrade that, generally speaking the low pressure pump is the first to fail. So it’s upgraded via an inline or in-tank solution. Sometimes the high pressure pump will get dragged down, but people seem to be getting on with a lot of ethanol on stock HPFP.

Have you been logging at E50? You really should. That’s getting aggressive for the stock fueling.

PTF= Pro Tuning Freaks. A tuning outfit that uses the Cobb flash to build custom maps for any application under the sun. Awesome work they do.

I see, thanks for the information! I have yet to log, I haven't learned how to read it yet, still doing research on that. So we do have a LPFP as well as a HPFP?

Do not run E50 on a whim. Go down to E30 and lets make sure the hardware is flowing well enough. Log.
