~350 miles review of OpenFlash Tablet
I've put enough miles on my car with the OpenFlash tablet stage 1 map that I feel adequately experienced enough to write a review. First of all, a little history of my n54's:
-2009 i purchased a 135i 6mt. started off with jb+, solenoid bypass, and catless downpipes. transitioned to jb3 2.0, then jb4 beta. then, purchased a procede rev. 2 v3. upgraded to v4 in 2010 or so. sold the 135i before cobb/procede v5 came out -2011 i purchased a e90 335i 6mt. started off with cobb AP and ETS FMIC. loved the convenience of flashing the ecu as opposed to digging in the ecu compartment. didn't like the slower response, laggy boost, and throttle occilcations. sold AP and purcahased a Procede Rev. 3. eventually did FBO + meth. Clutch took a dump from procede aggressive maps. installed ACT clutch, went with Eurocharged reflash, tried that for 6 months or so. flashed back to stock and sold the car -2013 i purchased another e90 335i, this time 6AT. started off with tune only, procede rev. 2.5, aggressive maps. once OF tablet was released, i picked one up, uninstalled my procede, and ran map 1 of the OF tablet. no bolt-on parts for now, holding off on those for a few months. ************************************************** ***************** with that out of the way, i'd like to give my impressions of the OF tablet maps/functionality, with the aforementioned tunes experience. First of all, the boost response is stellar. it feels equally responsive as the procede rev. 3, which is a feat in of itself considering how the procede has dedicated WG control. There are no throttle closures or occilations like I experienced with COBB OTS maps. the boost feels like it holds deeper into the rev band, too. sort of like the procede maps of 2010 (DIC). stage 1 is just as aggressive as a COBB stage 2+, or procede aggressive stage 3. it's uncanny how much power is being made (on the butt dyno) versus procede aggressive maps. finally, the convenience of loading maps with the tablet, making changes on the laptop, and re-flashing is a total win. i can't get over how cheap it is, too. $395 is a bargain in the grand scheme of things. For example, a Eurocharged reflash is $450, without any handheld device. the piggy backs are north of $450 new, too. finally, COBB runs $725 from the cheapest vendor (AR design) and this tablet packs a bigger punch with the OTS maps. I can't wait for stage 2, 3, etc to be released, plus the in-dash gauges, on the fly map switching, and everything else that Rombinhood and his team have planned. overall, very happy with the purchase and don't miss my piggybacks, COBB, or Eurocharged flash tunes one bit |

thanks. i think the next 6 months will be very exciting with more OF tablet maps, more upgraded turbo vendors releasing products, the "other" open source project, and fueling system upgrades. can't wait!

i don't have any logs to post yet, but i have enough seat time with COBB OTS maps and OF OTS maps to know the difference. i'll see if i can take some logs this week with my other cable. shouldn't be too hard to do

idk...i kinda call B.S.
i doubt this tablet that has less then 4 months out on the market can perform better then those who have been in the market for 5+ years? With no features of piggybacks, and less convenient then cobb flashing device. the thing your basing this tune off is the tune itself. Which you can probably get with a cobb-protune. looks like your saying you didnt like alot of things about your old tunes. that mind boggles me. How did you not like them? jb4, cobb, and procede none of them worked well for you? So what are you exactly saying? It drives better then ALL those tunes? I understand the price point is low, but the quality of the device doesnt looks that great. The accessport looks much better IMO and has more features. the tablet is a generic tablet that everyone is using. just like JZW. how is this better then JZW tuning tablet? if you were looking at lash based tunes why not GIAC. how about meth set-ups? mixing e85? larger turbos? economy map? |

This. He starts off by calling OP's opinion "BS" then he goes on to give his own opinion

This tablet + its stellar OTS maps = 440 shipped Honestly, the OTS maps are ridiculously smooth and pull very hard. I'm sure there is some power left on the table, but you dont need to pay 200+ for a protune to get it. I talked to Rob on the phone for a while. He said to email him logs and he will help me dial in the OTS maps even more. Try it before you "call BS" on a hunch. You get 30 days to return it.... Pretty much a no brainer. |

and you guys are right, i should try it before i say anything. Apologizes. Though how do you go through 6-7 tunes? I would love to see 1/4 mile times if any OFT users track their car. |

Seems you forgot that the OTS maps for the OpenFlash Tablet are made by Shiv@Vishnu...
