JB4 Map 5 Question

I was curious... how can I consistently run 17psi on Map 5?? I already understand its an auto tuning map and adjust to its behaviors but is there any tricks? I have done several WOT pulls in 3rd gear and I used to be able to pull 17psi consistently throughout most the gear and slowly decline at higher RPMs but now I just spike to 15psi at most and see a decline after that.

I know that most will say to read codes and post. Which I will probably do later today... but does anyone of experience of certain ways to keep consistent numbers? Hopefully I don't have a boost leak but I will have to read codes on that to confirm as well.

Thanks!

use higher octane fuel on map5 to get more boost, use map6 and setup to your liking, or map7 to hit 17psi but check your timing.

For me, my IAT is the main thing that brings down my boost.
Assuming you have stock FMIC like I do, monitor your IAT..
after one 1/4 mile pull, my IAT hit 175 degrees in 90degree ambient temperature 0_0

I can always do higher octane but prefer not drive out of my way everytime to fill up or purchase octane booster. I will be staying away from Map 7 mainly because it requires race fuel.

If I were to go to Map 6... is that something where I should send my logs to Terry and have him take a look to see if everything is ok to be running at 17psi? I don't want to do anything to throw my car off and ruin it.

How do you monitor that? Its on the JB4 Perf. Tuner screen that reads the numbers correct? I just purchased a VRSF 7" FMIC and looking to install that this week, hopefully that helps a lot with the cooling effect and give me higher PSI under Map 5.

Boost alone doesnt mean power. You can make power from timing as well. Don't be so set on 17psi...

JB4 is made so that if you have proper grade fuel it will run more boost. Otherwise you will typically see 14 or 15psi. So you either have to run meth, e85 or race fuel to get the 17 psi you want.

You will not get 17psi running 91octane with the Jb4.

Do you have a USB cable? If not, I suggest you get one and get some 3rd/4th gear logs. Logs will tell why you aren't hitting 17psi consistently.

I don't see 17psi being very realistic without something like E85 or meth. On pump I saw about 15.5-16 on my boost gauge (tapped into the manifold) max if the conditions were right.

I actually do have the BMS Meth Kit that was just installed the other week. Everything is ready to go.. just need to go buy Meth and pour it in with a 50/50 water mix. This should help with gaining higher output due to the Meth? I would be running on Map 3 then right?

Once you get meth you'll be able to make more boost and depending on the mix you can hit 17psi. Yes you'd be using Map 3.

you def need more octane if your wanting to run 17psi lol. I skimmed through your logs you posted and your barely hitting 15psi of boost, maybe liess. You def need to send these logs into terry so he can hopefully find a solution for your issues

Post up the raw data file or change the plots so it shows IAT. The best you can do is buy an intercooler so iat is as close to ambient as possible to suppress knock.

Other than that, there is only so much compression that 91/93 pump gas can handle and it's not 17psi usually. The solutions are:
E85
Race gas
Meth
Lower compression ratio

Without these, you can force JB4 to run 17psi, but you'll probably make less power than 14psi due to the bad timing.

How do you post up raw data file? Is that the Export Log (F7) key?

And I have a FMIC sitting in my garage brand new... haven't had the time to install it yet. I definitely will be doing that this weekend. Also, I installed my BMS Meth Kit the other week with the FSB as well. So will it automatically adjust boost in Map 3 to a higher PSI?

Sucks that there is only 91 octane here in SoCal unless you drive out of your way for race fuel.
