Do you have any kind of Navigation system installed ? Either Pro Navi or Bus Navi ?

If you have Pro-Navi there is a known problem with Cars built before October 2005 (which yours probably was if it was imported into China). It is supposed to be fixed with a software update which is due in December called CIP20 although i dont think anyone has seen it yet.

Ask your dealer for the fix and dont let them tell you they never heard of the problem. BMW know all about it.

There are two other threads on this subject here

Suggest you post on these to save adding a 3rd

Try playing it with the 6 disc changer.

It was definitely pre-september build as all the parts are imported into China and assembled here. I am not sure whether it is a Pro Navi, how to check it? On the front panel it has single CD on top and DVD on bottom plus a 6 disc changer in the trunk. The i-Drive has a TV module which GPS was not available here in China, I think by adding in the naviation DVD it should be able to do navigation. Please advice.

Sounds like the same spec that gets shipped with the 325i in Singapore except we dont get TV but do get GPS. I guess the China maps might take a while to finish - its a big place :-)

The pro-navi has a bigger screen than bus navi - you can probably find the dimensions on the web somewhere. If your MP3 doesnt work in the front CD, DVD and rear boot changer then i'd say you have the pro-navi module and you need the software upgrade.

Look under your bonnet. The build date is on the underside, roughly where the BMW logo is on the bonnet. If your Build date is September or earlier ... no MP3.

It sounds like you have Pro Navi. The Pro Nav screen is basically split into two. Two thirds of the screen is the left side, and the other third is on the right.

Yes costa, I have got the screen u described. Left side for TV and right side for Computer/Journey computer display. China factory build date was Sept 20 2005, so i am not sure the actual build date i will need to check it out again.

cdxp, you have the same probs? You can play mp3 as well?

I have same problems. Supposed to be fixed in CIP20 software. Ask your dealer for it.
