electric exhaust diverter? Muffler delete when wanted?
Has anyone tried this? I am considering buying a couple of exhaust diverters, having them installed before the mufflers, and opening them when I want it loud. Close them when I want it quiet (wife with me) . Put a small switch somewhere in the cab.
Thoughts? |

pick up some electric cut-outs, and throw it on, all the benefits of muffler delete and allows for stock sound when wanted.

"Cheap"
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/qt...50cp/overview/ *edited for 2.5" Then you have to install it. You don't really want to cheap out on it as you will have leaks which will cause headaches later.

i cut the valved side of my OEM muffler out, but left the valve.
and with JB4 i could open and close it. or let the DME control it, which woul open it at WOT above 3K RPM, and close it at cruising speeds on the highway |

Thats only the CANflap control. exhaust still passes through muffler.

There is a Bastek (sp) exhaust used for sale not far from me for $1000.00 maybe thats a better way to go. I think I'll be into that much by the time I'm done.

You'll be about ~$600 I would think. Depends on what you want. Haven't heard Bastek in person. If you plan on getting downpipes in the future they sound good with the stock system.

I have aftermarket warranty and fear the DP's may void it. Maybe the muffler will too

Find a cool dealer, and if they try to pull that, ask how they can offer a catback for sale if it voids warranty.

Why not buy a 335is exhaust? It is only $650 and you could do the golf tee mod when you want it to be a little louder.

The dealer has to prove the part you used cause whatever failure they are refusing to cover, and if they can prove that XYZ exhaust is worse than BMW PP exhaust then I'm dog at a keyboard.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnuso...s_Warranty_Act. Mainly they can say they don't cover the exhaust you put on, which is fine, but no other parts are affected. Ask me how I know. AE exhaust, BMS DPs, no cats, received 6 new injectors under warranty.

Good luck with them. Everyone I know that's had them has had problems.
Especially since your in cold, salt snow weather like me. They won't last two months and be able to open and close properly. |

ran cut outs for a while. over the last few months, I developed an exhaust leak(pretty common with cut outs - from what I hear). leak got worse n worse, and exhaust note got louder along with a whistling noise from leaking gases. I recently had to remove them and get new piping.
