Next car? Jaguar F Type coupe!

This is probably old news but I just ran across Carlos Lago's review of the Jaguar F type V8 roadster on YouTube. 0 to 60, 3.4! Quarter-mile, 11.6 at 122 mph! I know this is not a direct competitor to the M5 but what a car. Carlos Lago seemed to be genuinely excited about driving it and he had nothing but good things to say. I still need a back seat for a couple more years but once that coupe comes out, back seat or not, it is going to be tough to resist. The coupe will have even more power than the current car and it's drop-dead gorgeous. To my taste, it is one of the few cars worthy of comparison to the Ferrari 458 in looks. Unlike the M5 everyone seems to be absolutely smitten by the exhaust note of the Jag. It also goes around corners pretty well for a heavy car and Jaguar has somehow made a true automatic into a quick-shift box that works. The price is also very reasonable comparatively. If this isn't a worthy Porsche competitor I don't know what is. In fact, I think Chris Harris picked it over the 911 in a comparison test. I'm sure the 911 would be better on a track but most of us don't go to the track. I truly love my M5 but damn that Jag is sexy!

I agree. If you can do a Coupe, the Jaguar is very appealing. It has an emotional appeal that no BMW has.

And the review you saw was just the V8S. Imagine the R or the R-S.

It's one of few cars in the last few years that is just PURE WIN! Its a car you smile at before you get in, and smile at when you push the ignition. I would love one has a 3rd car

That is such a sub-zero car. See one every day on my commute to work; brings a smile to my face always.

Exactly. The car is just awesome. The sound, the looks, the cockpit. Everything is designed to excite. And at the same time it does so while delivering a level of luxury and comfort that one expects from a top notch British luxury car.

In a way this is the affordable Ferrari California.

I'm...NOT. A California? A Ferrari? Not a comparable car whatsoever. Excepting the top comes down. Closer to a short M6.

I like everything about the F Type R coupe (V8S) except the curb weight. Each time my thoughts wander to it, i tend to snap back to reality by the weight. They keep harping about their light weight aluminium and yet a diminutive 2 seater weighs more than the M4 couple. That's hard to stomach. What a waste. It should have weigh around the same level as the M4 Maybe in a test drive, the weight won't figure so much. Will definitely sample it out once it lands here.

They had one at the last cc and it looked really nice. I wouldn't mind buying one for the wife. Again the exhaust note at life and pull off was perfect. Top down perfect combo.

Yeah boots. It is a sweet little car. The weight is tough though. Lots of handling criticisms because of it and because the car doesn't seem to handle the hp well. I like it though. We usually see 1-2 at C&O here.

They definitely look and sound great. I haven't driven one yet, but hope that it's not a disappointment because I love Jaguar (even if my wife would never let me buy what she calls an "old man's car", though the F type definitely seems to me to a younger man's car)

I'm honestly not a fan of any Jag and don't think the build quality will touch the German brands but it is a nice looking car...albeit a bit short and stocky.

I would personally be leaning towards a 991, M4, or M6

Not the same car, but I found it very easy to walk away from an XF-R when I looked a few years ago and that was just from sitting in the car (never got as far as the test drive due to how much I disliked the interior), so in some ways similar to your experience of RS7 & E63...

Each to there own I guess...

Agree with you but I think they improved the interior a lot from the XF-R to the F-type.
