90-100k service 2006 325i?
Hey guys. With my service coming up I'm wondering what you guys would do. I just bought a cabin filter...bosh spark plugs..and a k&n engine air filter. What else? I know many people are going to say transmission fluid but my tranny is running fine and at 93k miles it seems risky. Any input is appreciated !

Wow, $300 parts and labor?! Damn, my indy guy's more than double that at $741 and still $150 less than the stealership. I'm not trying to be a "buzzkill", but that almost seems fishy. A brand new pan/filter and trans fluid is more than $300.

I think he said parts was like 150 and labor was 150, I also believe he is rather experienced at working on BMW's so he know's what he's doing and has done it before. he even made sure to get my vin to check if I have the ZF or GM transmission.

I'd add changing your Serpentine belt and pulley's. Check brake fluid level, Coolant flush along with whatever your CBS says.. All Fairly DIY jobs as too!

Yes in my eyes. With the right tools and lil back power it should be done in 2hrs. There's a DIY on it too. Look it up and see for yourself if you could manage it.

Second this... I forgot it was one of the first things done to my car, my indy did it while he was doing my water pump and thermo.

I have the same car as you do, but with a manual trans and 240,000 miles on it. I'd change the serpentine belt, but not the tensioner, unless it is making noise. The belt is inexpensive and the tensioner is not. The belt takes about 5 minutes to replace with the correct tool to leverage the tensioner. If the tensioner does go, there really is no added cost to the job to remove the belt to replace it. I've changed my belt twice, that's it; it's on the original tensioner. You can check the pulley on the tensioner by hand-spinning it. If it rotates really easy then it is worn, but if t has resistance to it, then it is still good.
Regarding coils. You can replace them if you want, but it's about $300 in parts. But until they go bad, there is no way to know if they ever will. I'm still on all the original 6 coils on my car too. Buying a new coil doesn't guarantee it will not got bad prematurely. |
