Blasted valves, feels like new car

I know you've all heard it before, but I just have to post how great it is to have a new car! Pulls hard and smooth as silk. Don't wait people - if you're over 50k miles, just get your valves blasted! I waited until 121k miles

Crappy phone pics:

I've been quoted $700 by BMW Chandler, AZ USA. But have heard of some BMW places quoting up to $1200. I've also seen independent shops that offer the service advertise it for as low as $350.

Mine being done for free.
Took my car in for an O2 sensor. Now getting a complete top end.
I suspect buildup causing valve not to seat properly.
Leakdown testing failed.

New valve springs, head bolts, blasting, etc......
All under warranty.

Looks great now. I'm at 35k so I have some time. Do you notice any difference before/after? Just driving around or getting on it hard?

Wish someone would do a dyno before and after blasting. I'm curious to know how much of an increase when scrubbed clean.

As someone else around here has said, it's probably just my butt dyno - doubt there's any significant difference in power. But there is significant difference in feel - just so smooth now.

Thanks.
There has to be some appreciable increase in power because exhaust flow will certainly be impeded somewhat by the build up you had.

How is this method done? Does the head has to come off the engine?

The head stays on. Every piston has to obviously be at TDC to prevent the blasting material getting into the cylinder.

So the intake and exhaust has to be removed? Or just the intake?

Also is the leftover materials from the blasting left in there or vaccumed out?

You said you were getting the blasting done under warranty. Original warranty to 50k miles. Do you have an extended warranty then?

Just the intake manifold and yes the walnut shell medium is vacuumed out.
The exhaust valves are burned pretty clean with hot exhaust gases.
