Dealers usually sell the trade-in's at a dealer auction. They don't necessarly make a lot of $$ on the sale. That's why you always make more $$ on pvt sales.
On a side note, people love to talk about how your car drops $X'rs as soon as you drive off the lot. In reality your car isn't worth less. Your "loss" is in form of taxes/fees associated with the transaction. After all, you can't avoid paying sales tax on the car. |
