So what do you go buy if the M5 starts to "feel slow"?

I have to admit, my M5 has started to feel a bit slow or perhaps "less exciting" after the purchase of the Jag V8S. I'm around 30k miles at this point.

Anyone have any thoughts on what the next should be?

Of course, I have all the unreasonable requirements of "not too much more money" and it would still need to be a daily driver.

That's easy. Go buy a Sonata. After a few weeks, the M5 will feel plenty fast again.

4 doors? You might need a tuned E63 S. Other than there is no alternative. Or get a BMW S1000rr or flashed ZX-10r. That will make your neck sore the following day after a few 186 mph test runs.

My tuned S4 (B8.5) felt tons faster than my current M5, even though I know the M5 is objectively faster. I think the difference is that the S4 was a lot lighter and put the power down to all four wheels. I'm coming around to the conclusion that I'd rather go moderately fast but feel like I'm going super fast than to go super fast but feel like I'm on a leisurely drive.

I've been there. I usually drive in comfort and S2.

Drive it in sport + with MDM on. On the highway in 6th/7th push the pedal past kick down and pull down paddle once. This car is fast.

:-) Yes... yes... working on my 58 F-100 with a 223 I6 and 3 speed on the column for that "approach." Lowering springs, shocks, and whitewalls are in the near future.

When the wife isn't in the car, it is MDM, Sport+/Sport+/Sport and Manual shifting with paddles in the 3rd position all day long. We'll just say I've spent so much time in MDM at this point that I am confident with it even in the rain...

Add full exhaust, catless downpipes, and a tune. You will be bored no longer and that jag will feel slow.

This happens to me sometimes, but it's not the car. U are just not driving it rite. U were commuting rather than driving. Switch everything to Sport-Plus and give it the beans. Not many stock cars out there can make the M5 feel slow...

Used McLaren 12C. Redefined my perception of fast. The M5 felt like a school bus after driving the 12C.

Very true and actually my remedy for this problem indeed -
Since I believe I have a possible lemon - (A fan of lemonade) been to dealership 3 times in 6 weeks twice to fix the screen flickering thing and they took care of me nicely and last few days the right front wheel bearing was squeaking and needed change which were the reasons why I enjoyed and literally enjoyed being in a 3 series that I always ask for and never cared for 5 series
1. I get to enjoy lighter weight and almost golf cart type of handling for a couple of days
2. Soft Luxury Marshmallow like suspension can be fun after Stiff and yes STIFF M5 suspension.

And then you go back to pick up the M5 forgetting completely how it handled and WOW I get shocked at the difference and ask myself how could M division were able to squeeze that much sportiness out of this 4 large boat like sedan chassis !!

I call it the M magic potion or treatment, certainly they have the perfect recipe for how to do it!! Cook it if you will - Yummy -
It reminds me of food by a world renowned chef vs McDonald's which is like M5 or M division and Porsche vs Hyundai or Honda and please take no offense in this if you are reading this and have either ... It was just an analogy that comes to mind ... especially that I have a soft spot for McDonald's at times -

One of the very few pros of having a lemon -

Everytime I get to savor the M recipe after tasting the generic ones I come to the conclusion that it is human nature of The Disease Of Getting Used To Stuff and Taking Stuff For Granted!!

Forgive me guys if I got carried away with this -
Hope you enjoy your M while you and IT last!!
Life is short -
