One would have to assume that was the case although it doesn't seem to make much sense. Hopefully it is just a short production constraint.

They way I'm interpreting the latest Pricing Guide is that it's now required to order ZMQ M Sport Professional Package in order to get Red Brake Calipers.... or was that always the case??

Deleted Features:
2NH - M Sport Brakes with Blue Calipers (24SJ)

Deleted Features:
3M2 - M Sport Brakes with Red Calipers (24SJ, 24XG, 24XO, 24XT)

Deleted Rules:
3M2 cannot be ordered with 2NH (24SJ, 24XG, 24XO, 24XT)
3M2 requires ordering ZMQ (24SJ, 24XG, 24XO, 24XT)
3M2 will delete STD or 100% equipment 2NH (24SJ)

24SJ =X5 M60i
24XG = X5 xDrive40i
24XO = X5 sDrive40i
24XT = X5 xDrive50e

Unless there's a complete stoppage of red for some reason. Anyway, TurtleBoy, you have much more insight than I do.

Red calipers have been removed from all ordering as far as we have seen but perhaps the info we got didn't take into account ZMQ. We should know soon enough if someone who ordered it, and them, posts a new VIR.

Was just told my New Car Sales Manager that there are only 82 allocations (total) for the M60i in the United States, at least for now. I could be wrong but I think there are around ~400 dealerships, which means many won't be getting one.

I ordered an M60i (that was already 111) on Tuesday (3/14) with ZMQ. Immediately after we configured the car, it went into status 112. My SA sent me the VIR and production number the next day and I noticed 2NH was selected, so I called him and he was able to select 3M2 for me. MyGarage updated instantly with red calipers.

So even though 3M2 is supposed to be the default, if you want red calipers, definitely double-check with your SA and make sure it is selected.

blinsc Thanks so much for this. I noticed the online configurator is now live and red calipers are available to select, so feeling better than I was a week ago. Configurator also further confirms you can't order both 2VR and 2VW.

Love the build! You must be getting excited. Congrats! Please keep us updated here on your timeline.

Ps-What dealer did you use?

I'm definitely getting excited, it's my first BMW. I'm actually quite shocked how much better the ordering process is than Mercedes or Porsche, and I'm already spoiled by having the "MyGarage" feature. I also noticed on cars.com that some 2024 X5 (mostly xDrive40i) already have VINs assigned... so we may be getting our cars pretty soon here.

As for the dealership, I used BMW of the Woodlands near Conroe, TX. They are an average-sized dealership, at least for the Houston area, and they told me they only received a single M60i allocation in the first batch. That supports the initial numbers being fairly low nationwide. They also told me no one else had even asked about it yet, which surprised me a bit.

My car just went status 150 with a VIN assigned. Using the "F12" method reveals a prodDate of "2023-04-05".

Are you able to see an owner's manual yet in the following link?

https://www.bmwusa.com/owners-manuals.html

I am interested to see how distance control is handled now that those buttons are no longer on the steering wheel.

This is from the '22 manual-

I tried entering my VIN along with a couple other 2024 X5 VINs from cars.com listings and I get "An error has occurred" on the owner's manual page.

Regarding the cruise control distance, if it's like the X7 I played around with at the dealership, it's in the "Driving Settings" app under "Distance Control." I couldn't find a shortcut for it anywhere else and my SA said he didn't think there was one.

The crazy thing is the first dealership I called... they barely seemed interested in working with me, and I was having trouble even setting up an appointment to talk about ordering a car. In retrospect, it might've been a blessing in disguise and if I had gone with them, I might still be waiting on an allocation.

Hey
Bought the same car.
S68 engine has been in the X7 m60i bugs gone.
New MASSIVE dash the same.
All the rest is carry over from m50i
Would've been worried with the X7 when fresh and new, BMW didn't mess with X5 top seller
Nore the old days with the 3 series when it was a global winner. Even the latest 3 series didn't have vomit grills to keep bmw love.
Your build options are great in the US, in Australia we have loaded with not wanted options and missing wanted.
Still can't wait easy sub 4 second

Its a build up from the S63. BMW rarely makes a "new engine" they just add on and upgrade the previous designs.

Even the B58 isn't a "new engine" but its upgrades over the N54 and changed enough that its a new code instead of just a technical update.
Wow n54 was nothing like the b58.
N54 had a mile of induction pipework with intercooler
B58 had F1 type short and cooled in heads but massive radiator water.
Full boost at lights with zero airflow needed.
If want details can upload so cool.

N54 didn't close off all the engine hot water to keep heat to reduce restart wear. Also the new pistons and cylinders that had never been used the new texh. Or vanos changes or so many other things.
Even the block of the b58 is the same as the diesel hence big aftermarket HP to same different parts and shares parts with the new range. 1.5 2.0 3.0 petrol or oil burners.

The S68 is a NEW engine with almost not a shared part of the s63. So many journalist are to blame for the miss information. They wrote a modified s63 even thought BMW said the opposite to them.
New engine. New gearbox. New manifolds. New electric motor and generator on crank shaft. The engine is a full M built motor with a detuned over the X5M that gets heaps more power.
BMW says X5 m60i it's the same as X5 m60i even thought 7kw and 200nm electric has to be added.
Also it's a solid motor.

Planning on placing our order in the next week or two for an M60i. Im on the fence about suspensions offered though. Any one have some input or feedback on the Adaptive M Suspension vs. Air Suspension? I guess in my head I just think the Air ride would be prone to problems and issues down the road. Give me the Variable M and if I ever wanted to do a HAS kit down the road thats always an option.

Thoughts?

Lots of discussion posts around this topic and the general consensus is individual to what type of ride you personally like. Remember the Adaptive M Suspension (2VF) is standard on the M60i so you could also get the Air Suspension (2VR) too. I struggled with the decision too. I ultimately opted to go Adaprive M Suspension Professional (2VW) because I want a sportier ride.
