Here's my interior with cognac and fineline open pore wood. I strongly recommend non-shiny trim as the shiny ones reflect sunlight so bad in certain angle and will show fine scratches over time.

By non-shiny do you mean not the carbon fiber?

Yes, I mean the matte wood (open pore wood) options. They are way more practical.

Ok, I went to the dealer to check out the combo tonight and unfortunately for that reason, I'm out. Its a sophisticated color combo, but was just a little too much for me so I'm going conservative sporty and doing black and carbon fiber with MBB.

Right, that's why you have to see this stuff in person. However, Sophisticated color combo's take time to grow on you, anything bold, at first sight, is, well, BOLD .. but after a few times seeing it, you might start to like it. You just have to give it a chance. Black will always work but it's just black, nothing special about it like Cognac or Tartufo or some other sophisticated color.
When I showed Tartufo to my wife, she said .. .. no! She wanted black. I said we had black in the last several cars, this time I'm going bold. I bought Tartufo. Everyone who has seen it, comments on how nice it is and what a great departure from the ordinary .. .. my wife? well, she now loves it.

Yes I agree with all that. I know you have to see these colors in person but I was trying to get some opinions until I could do that. I went down to a local dealer that I am not buying the car from (I'm buying it out of state) as they had one in stock with the combo. I was able to get there about 10 minutes before they closed skipping out of work a little bit early and asked the sales guy if I could see the car. He walked me out to it in the lot and sat there and stared at me while I sat and trying to take in the colors. It was awkward. He was polite enough, but clearly just tolerating the experience. I wanted to say, give me the keys and I'll sit here for a half hour and absorb this and then bring them back to you but I knew that wasn't going to happen. It's entirely possible with time the colors and combo would have grown on me. I just wasn't willing to take the 3-year risk of having to look at them in case they didn't based on my 2 minutes of sitting in the car. I walked around the lot for another half hour after the dealer closed peering in windows. In the end, while conservative yes, I know the black will work and also think the black and carbon fiber is a little bit more of a sporty combo compared to the sophisticated combo. So for all those reasons, I bet on black.

That was an unfortunate experience, why not go back when you both have more time and give it another look? Yes, black is safe and I have always liked our black interior cars which is why I kept buying them.

I think Tartufo would be a better pairing for MBB. The trim choice in your example also doesn’t seem to pair well with Cognac, IMHO, so I can see why you might shy away from it.

FWIW, I had Silverstone in my M3. It was a daily driver with two little ones and I never had any problems with upkeep/care of the leather. The lighter interior colors aren’t that much of a pain to keep up with and ensure they stay looking nice. Just get them protected at the beginning and then wipe them down every few weeks with something like Griots interior detailer.

I think I'm just not ready for essentially a white interior yet. Maybe someday. Also as much as the car is already $98,000 and there is the thought of in for a dime, in for a set of leather seats, I was trying to at least be a little conservative and went with the sensafin instead of spending the extra $1800 or so on the leather. I've read lots of good things about it.

In any case I think I'm now locked in at status 150.

Will definitely be a great build regardless. Maybe next time!

Yup, you’re locked in now. You’ll be driving this baby by early to mid June. I now have 11,000 miles with smiles on my M60i.

Mine is Tartufo but it looked like Cognac in some pix and visa versa. The first time I saw Tartufo in person, it was quite different than all the pix I had been looking at and that was even more pronounced with Cognac.

Here's mine, Tartufo with Fineline

and here are a couple pix of mine, to me the color looks much different but it was just the lighting at the time the pix were taken.

Crazy how light makes the difference.

I'm not posting this photo to try to change your mind on white (Ivory) interior. I just noticed that your build is similar enough in exterior color and wheels to share a photo of our 2019 X5 with Ivory Merino. I had doubts the light-colored interior in terms of maintenance and so on, but my wife wanted it so we went for it. 5 years later....not a single regret.

Looks nice. I'm locked into the black, but any color transfer in the 5y?

None. I wear Levi's and I was expecting problems. I take a damp cloth to it whenever I wash the car. Once a year or so, I use BMW leather cleaner and lotion. I take it skiing and I don't agonize over it at all. Way easier than I expected.
