I also have been tempted, the watch is absolutely beautiful and I love the engraving on the caseback which includes the quote, "THE MOON IS ESSENTIALLY GREY", which according to Omega's website description is attributed to the Command Module Pilot, Jim Lovell, during the Apollo 8 mission. The MSRP in the US is $16,400.

The only downside to me is that this Speedy is a manual winding movement and not automatic/ self winding.
I could be in trouble here….

I know that they are which unfortunately is a deal breaker for me. There are some Speedys that are self winding but they have a thicker case.

Probably the only manual winding Omega I would ever consider buying is the Snoopy which IMHO is unique and in a category by itself.
You know why Moon watches are manual winding? It is because self winding doesn’t wind in zero gravity. That is why the Daytona failed in the NASA test for a moon watch.

I understand, I just don’t want to deal with having the wind the watch all of the time.

However, the Snoopy is so special that if one ever became available at my nearest OB it would very tempting to jump on it.

I usually max out at 42mm but that 44mm size looks amazing on you and I totally agree with DanG, go for it!

BTW, you can purchase it with the coated nylon fabric strap shown in your picture or a rubber strap. The back of the rubber strap is really cool because it looks like the surface of the moon. Make sure that they show you both versions! 😉

This is my first “fancy” watch. Back when I was a kid, international flights only played one movie (replayed twice if you were lucky) over the 10 hour flight and the monitors were in the aisles that you had to hope you got a good seat to be able to even watch it. And with movie was done you could either watch the navigation map ad infinidum or peruse the duty free catalogue. Overtime, I basically had the catalogue memorized and always loved seeing the chronographs. Then I learned about the aviation history of Breitling and recently felt extremely grateful to be able to get one.

I am too self conscious to wear it to work but I do wear it whenever I’m not at work. Even if I’m just running errands in my sweats. I just feel so special whenever I wear it. It also kinda marks my first job in my career so it’s going to be something very special to me no matter what else I get later (and I have a growing list already). Anyway here’s my baby :)

I picked up a new gold series 10 on Milanese loop 2 days ago and I think I am about to pack it up and send it back. With all the proper watches in my collection I feel like I will never use the Apple Watch and if I use the the Apple Watch, I will never use the actual watches which I have way too many of. Apple is cool for sure but just for me I feel like the wrist presence of a toy more than an actual watch is just not sitting right over the past 2 days.
Scrolling back to through this thread and saw your comment. Yes, if you get into the history and tradition of mechanical watches then the Apple Watch feels like a wrist computer. Having said that, I still love and will continue to love my Apple Watch. I wear it to work everyday. It’s indispensable for getting notifications that helps me do my job better and keeps up with my health matrix. The fancy watch I have and the others I plan on buying are totally to make me feel special. My Apple Watch is more accurate and does a better job at doing what it’s supposed to than any of the other watches I’m lusting after. The fancy watches have their place and so do the utilitarian ones

Yea, that's fair enough. I guess I have too many of the automatic watches that I feel I have no time to wear smart watches. I hardly go to enough special occasions to save the nicer watches for only then, haha. I definitely see the health benefits though that I could use of an Apple Watch and I have seen people do double writing (luxury watch on one wrist and apple on other) but I think that looks completely ridiculous.

Your navitimer is great. Ironically that was my first nice watch as well back in 2015, after which time I went a bit crazy. And I pulled it out of storage after a long time last night and put it into rotation. I keep 5 watches in rotation with 4 on winder and one on wrist at any given time to keep my ADD in check. lol

Beautiful watch. Understated in white gold and grey dial most people wouldnt know its a heavy hitter.

That's exactly what I find so exciting about the watch.

Not quite on the wrist, but seeing as folks on this thread are watch enthusiasts...

I was an avid collector/hoarder of all things watches for many years and for one reason or another whittled my collection all the way down to one watch*, a Ceramic Daytona 116500LN Panda. No, not a grail watch, just a watch I felt could keep me happy on its own and it has.

However, I always lusted after the modern GMT Pepsi 126710 BLRO, but never managed to pick up my preferred Mk1 on jubilee, so let that urge go, until my good friend and watch dealer sent me this photo of a pristine 2018 Mk1 in the right configuration, so I had to have it.

In the UK these things are as safe as money in the bank, so will put it in rotation with the Daytona for six months and see how I get on. It'll arrive with me on Tuesday.

*One watch is a little fib, as I sill have a few retained for one reason or another, but not worn regularly.

IMHO, you can never go wrong with a Tag. In my winder I have an oldie but goodie second re-edition Heuer branded CS2111 Monaco which I purchased in 1999 and the titanium Monza 40th Anniversary Calibre 17 which is also Heuer branded.
