After 7+ years..... my time with the X5 M50i is over. I traded it in this morning for a 2021 BMW 840i. Now that I have the 4C, it didn't make sense to continue my 1+ hour commute every day in a 700hp monster that gets 14-15mpg.

So.... I picked up this luxury commuter.... with upgraded dull merino leather, the executive package, Bowers & Wilkins stereo,20" wheels, and it's the right color combo. Everything I needed..... and only 18k miles.

Just wanted to say thanks to all the viewers, participants, and friends that supported my build thread over the past 7 years.

My original (and practically unused) 21" 741M wheels, tires, TPMs, center caps, and an additional full set of tires...... are all for sale in the Classified forum DIRT CHEAP. if you are interested, take a look, and call/text me.

Thanks!

Congrats with an beautiful 8er. How do you think the durability of the M50i was? Did you have any engine failures or other major issues? I'm considering buying an M50i myself, but I'm a bit skeptical about the N63 in general. How many kilometers did you have on the M50i?

I think I was pretty lucky. I traded it in with almost 80k miles (128k kilometers). No major issues, no transfer case failures or differential failures.

I did spring a leak in the front diff at about 75k miles... and my TPM sensors went on the brink..... otherwise, no issues.

The engine? Engine was great.... and I've been tuned to over 700hp for over 6 years. Granted, I rarely use it (main reason I traded it in), I drive gently, and I was neurotic about doing the fluid changes regularly.

But still... it was a great car, just didn't make sense anymore.

Thanks for reply. As with all other things - maintenance is the key. I do also have "high risk" engines in my M550d, but have never had any issues with the engine. I do also change oil and fluid one time a year or around 10 000km.

Sooooo... I decided not to sell the 21" wheels and tires.... and I am VERY glad I didn't.

Just in case you ever wanted to know what a set of OEM 21" X5 wheels looks like on an 8 series, with a set of ultra low-profile tires (255/30/21 front, 305/25/21 rear).

Well.... here ya go. I could not be happier. With the exception of a 12mm spacer on the front axle.... it'slike these wheels were meant for this car.

Yes... I also swapped out the grill for a black one, the mirror caps for black ones, added a subtle rear spoler, and swapped out the chrome 840i badge for a gloss black one.

The white g05 x5's will always buck the idea that white is a boring car color. Such a sick build!
