Or the high tech upgrade?

Car-Addicted wroteI was more of a Knight-Kit kid. Loved to spend my Saturdays at Allied Electronics store in Chicago. In high school I was a line boy at a now-defunct airport making about $2.50 an hour and spent almost all of my money at Allied. Can't count how many kits I've built over the years. From the walkie talkies, to the 3-tube AM broadcaster to lots of pieces of test equipment. In my free time, when I wasn't reading ACE sci-fi, I was pouring over the latest Allied catalog.Remember HeathKit? My first radio was a Heathkit I built. My first soldering experience. My first computer was a Zenith/Heathkit
Cool documentary

my bicycle. It would barely move, but it sure sounded cool!
3.0L wroteI cringe thinking how much the vintage baseball cards that I destroyed in my bicycle spokes would be worth today.....One day I really got carried away and clipped a whole deck of cards to

Car-Addicted wroteYes, at the drug store early 70's.Anybody ever use one of these? Once upon a time there was one in almost every supermarket and drug store for customers to use
Car-Addicted wroteFor us my dad would go the market back in the 60s to test tubes.Anybody ever use one of these? Once upon a time there was one in almost every supermarket and drug store for customers to use
Car-Addicted wroteLearned to work a clutch and shifter when I was about 11yo in an old burned out Chevy with my teenage friend sitting in the passenger seat instructing me. We spent many hours in this car. Not actually driving but it did get me familiar with a manual shifting car which made learning to drive one so much easier. First car was a manual, btw. 1968 VW Bug.
Took my drivers test in a Mini Cooper
Cop as 6' something and not impressed (checked the inspection sticker). When I did the three point turn by doing a U turn, he made me go back and use reverse
JJ 911SC wroteUsed one at the drug store...and also had a portable table-top one at home to keep those old bottles glowing.....Yes, at the drug store early 70's.
Esteban wroteMine was a '67 Dodge Dart inline 6 with 3 on the tree. That car needed 2 miles of open road to get to its top speed of about 80 MPH. Good, safe car for a dumbass teenager.Learned to work a clutch and shifter when I was about 11yo in an old burned out Chevy with my teenage friend sitting in the passenger seat instructing me. Esteban wroteMine was a '57 Volvo (PV444?). It was fun, but not as much fun as its successor; a '65 (64 1/2) Mustang with the 225 horse 289, 4bbl and 4speed.Learned to work a clutch and shifter when I was about 11yo in an old burned out Chevy with my teenage friend sitting in the passenger seat instructing me.
