BMW have issued a fix notice for noise related to the rear sway bar.
Many have had their vehicles fixed under this directive it applies for both X5M & X6M
appreciate sharing, however, what should I learn from those 2 pictures? :)

Hi QF8, are you based in Sydney? I need a recommendation for a good dealer service centre for my X6M. Thanks in advance.

Does this only impact x6m? I don't have the noise while making slow turns, but I get some nasty clunking noise on the rear passenger wheel well if I hit a pot hole while accelerating. These aren't even massive potholes.. I would expect the x5m to eat them up without issue. Just wondering if it could be related to this end link shim…
I read a thread talking about that, it's coming from the folding seats hinges. Some used electric tape, some used liquid rubber.
happened to me once when hitting a speed bump fast. I sort of knew it's coming from the back seat, I folded it and slammed it hard, didn't hear since. I may try the tape though if reoccurred.
Funnily enough, I took your advice and slamming the seat helped. Thanks.

But now I can hear the beginnings of what sounds like the sway bar endlink problem. I can replicate on command. Basically anytime you turn the wheel left, even slightly, it sounds like something has slightly shifted. I might not have noticed it, if not for this thread (umm, thanks?! ). I suspect it'll get worse. Only happens when you shift the weight towards rear passenger side. I wouldn't even describe it as a clanking sound yet. It's metal on metal and just sounds like something shifting so far.

Mines come back louder now what's the resolution?

I found the resolution to my trunk area clunking sound.

There is a plastic piece that indexes with the spare tire. That plastic piece is just wedged under the floor liner around the perimeter but is 100% free to bounce around and bottom out on the metal floor of the spare wheel floor area. Grab that piece of plastic and pull it up then push it down. It will make that clunking sound.

You can either just rip it out, as it serves almost no purpose or feed some felt/foam under it so it doesn't bottom out on metal.

Another solution is to cover it with a towel and then place the spare tire on it, basically wedging it still.

Give it a try and see if you clunks go away.

I don't have a spare tire

I'm 90% sure (in my case) it was related to the endlinks since I could reproduce it on command by turning left.

Sure enough, it had made this sound for weeks and a day before the car was to be dropped off at the dealer, I drove it hard on a 3 hour car cruise. Sure enough, the sound disappeared. I suspect something got bound up / fused together .

Lucky for me, even though they couldn't reproduce the sound, my SA rocks and he asked the guys to perform the bulletin anyway, since it was likely to come back.

They didn't install the shim.
They read the SIB but didn't follow instruction.
Do a socal trip, and I'll fix it for you.
Not all BMW tech created equal. I don't care how everyone are screaming about equality these days. Lol.

Is the shim I saw for production models before April. For the f95 that is. After April does the shim help?

I haven’t had the need to fix the later production.

I had the issue on my 2023 after lowering springs were installed which I believe is way after the bulletin timeframe. I didn't attempt to battle with the dealer but had a BMW performance shop perform the bulletin for about $200 and knock (no pun intended) on wood its been good for about 4 months.
