Pretty easy to get to by removing the panel under the steering wheel and/or the panel at the end of the dash when the driver door is open.
When you say they are live all the time, it's not a simple matter of checking when you turn the vehicle to "off" state. The circuits are under control of the energy management system. You will probably find that they will de-power some number of minutes after the car is buttoned up and left alone for a while.

If you drop the panel under the steering wheel, there is a fuse panel at the outboard edge just forward of the OBD port. See photo below. I have a fuse tap there for my phone mount/charger. I'm pretty sure if I leave the car off for a while, it becomes de-powered.I did take down the panel under the dirver side too when I threaded the smart cord over to the passenger side fuse box. I didn't notice a fuse box but maybe i missed it. Do you know if there is a switched fuse there?

Elnero wroteAh I think i tapped a wire under passenger glove box. It was always "on" but i discovered a feature in my detector that turns it off after X minutes so I left it wired the way it was. Sorry could not be more helpful.hello Desmo907, and other readers
Sorry to bother you, but I read in this post you were looking a year ago for electrical connection points in your BMW X5 xdrive 45e, at the bottom of the dashboard on the drivers left site, so in the front left fuse box as visual on the photo.
Got the same car and I'm also looking for 2 connections there: one with a constant power connection and an the other with ignition connected connection.
May I ask if and where you found those 2 connection points in the front left fuse box or how did you make the connections?

Or if anyone has a link to the existing information that would be really appreciated.

belyj wroteI used these fuse blocks in my '22 and they were both empty. I needed to get the mini fuse size taps as my previous vehicle has micro size.
This is the fuse panel under the glovebox. Red represents switchable +, yellow is constant +. If your device has no power management (e.g. switchoff when voltage is below a certain level), I’d suggest connecting to the red +, to avoid draining your 12V battery.
BTW, these fuse seats were empty in my case, not sure what’s the situation with US vehicles.
