gamn1 wroteWe’ve had our set a year now and have had no issues. Our dealer installed them for us and they did ask me “do you realize these are larger tires “. I said yes and they are within tolerance and many have done it. So he checked and said your right, they are well within tolerance and had no issue installing them for us. I would hope they would then take care of me if something went wrong somewhere.Any concern when getting factory service or warranty coverage having upsized non * rated tires on the x5 ? I am very new to this with a 7 month only 2025 x5 xdrive 40i. I purchased some 742m wheels to replace my 740m wheels just needing to get new tires. Read several post these included about slight upsize tires improving the overall ride. Then reading other post several warn about transfer case failures not being covered due to non * rated tires and oversized tires.
Will the dealer flag the x5 when brought in for routine maintenance or warranty work?
Appreciate any comments.
To me it’s a total bush league move to deny a warranty claim when everything is well within tolerance.
I would make sure though you check with your dealer if your worried they would cover a claim or not.

Upsizing will change the speedo approx +1.5 mph (BMW's and most Euro's already have a habit of over reporting actual mph). Increase Dia approx 1" (this will be a little more forgiving on NY roads and will fill out wheel arches)
In terms of MPG the display will show less MPG but actual real world MPG will be unchanged (Do research this is factual). Interestingly though the odometer will also display less mileage (a function of the larger circumference/Dia) for example after 50k miles the Odometer will read almost 1800 miles less mileage...this is good (warranty time period will last longer)
All that to say...there are great benefits in this case (this car, with this setup) to upsizing.

-315 35 22 rear
I know the rolling diameter is 30.7 and others have said as long as under 31.0 should be fine but I wanted to make sure that still applies to having the adaptive M suspension and the M sport brakes. I have read the M suspension is lowered 10 mm. Thanks in advance for any reassurance.

This time the same dealer that did the install last year on my wife's car calls me and says I know you mentioned that you were aware of the upsize, but our mechanic is saying these won't work. I said yes, they will as you installed a set last year on our X5 and you were good with it. We have had zero issues. I could hear the mechanic in the background talking so I asked if I could talk with him. He's like hey these are going to shred the inside of your wheel well and won't work. I said is it because the M50 sits lower than the 40i you did this on last year? He said not sure, but they won't work. He said he did something similar on my wife's car and it tore it up. I said what does she drive and he said X5. For some reason I got this feeling he really didn't know and was just trying to talk me out of it. I told him to install them as we've had no issues and that I've seen many people do it. I've now been driving for 5 days on them and absolutely no issues. I think these guys just panic at the site of doing something different and all the rules and such. So just an FYI.
As far as the tires go from the summer Pirellis these ride better and take the harsh bumps and impacts way better. They also lost little if any in the handling department. So, these really are a great all year-round upgrade. I would never go back to a summer only tire unless I lived in a warm climate state. These are much cheaper, should last longer and are good in the winter. No brainer.

So far I'm loving the ride and I wish I upsized sooner. You can definitely tell that the new tires take road imperfections so much better compared to the stock tires. I do think these will slightly decrease my range but I'm good with that.

I think everyone in this thread has positive reviews on doing this. I don't see any negatives to it. Except if a dealer tried to pin an issue on an upsize tire which is bs. If the ratio is correct it doesn't matter. But we know how they try and get out of covering stuff.
Anyways, like you said the ride is much improved and I think the steering is better on mine vs the summer Pirellis. Quicker and sharper which I wouldn't have thought. On my wife's 40i the mpg didn't really change. Not sure on my 50 if it will much or not. Were now into colder weather so it will drop regardless. I'll have to wait till warmer weather comes back to get a true feel on that.

I am currently running the stock Pirellis on my M60i with 275/35/R22 in the front and 315/30/R22 in the rear.
I am considering changing only the rear tires to 315/35/R22, and I wanted to check if this would cause any issues such as rubbing, fitment problems, or speedometer inaccuracy while keeping the fronts at the stock size of 275/35/R22.
If anyone has tried this setup or knows whether the increased sidewall height in the rear alone could cause any issues, I would appreciate your guidance.

Edit: if you have only rear-wheel drive, then it might be fine. Cars with air suspension would think the car is always going uphill and attempt to compensate?
My door jam's tire pressure sticker recommends 39psi F/45psi R. I usually run 1psi lower since I am not driving with a full load, so 38F/44R.
With the larger profile tires (275/40/22 and 315/35/22), I am thinking of running 37F and 43R. I think that will be a good balance of comfort and handling.
