Hey guys

Long story short my 24 X5 LCI got delivered with the incorrect trim colour.

After abit of discussions/compensation I'm thinking to either wrap/dip or replace with carbon fibre.

Does anyone know if the trim is easily removeable without damaging the dash? Has anyone completed this successfully?

Any advice will be appreciated

Cheers

I haven’t personally tackled this, sorry no first had experience for you.

Just chiming in to say this is the kind of job I would pay a premium for a high end shop to tackle. The kind of shop that charges 50% more than any competitors, and you can’t figure out what the heck you’re paying for - but the shop has a pristine reputation.

This is highly detailed, tedious work, and you want a shop who is being paid absurdly well to pay attention to every detail. You also want a shop with a lot on the line (pristine reputation) who will do it right the first time and fix the imperfections you find.

My two cents! Keep us posted on what you do!

Thanks for that feedback!

This is exactly what I was planning to do however I was wanting to see if it had been done before as the dealer basically explained it couldn't be changed over which I thought was odd..

I have a 2023 45e and bought carbon fiber overlays from Ali express. Yea they stick over the current trim but after taking the time and doing it properly- one could never tell it isn’t factory. It looks that good.

All for around $150-200

And I’m a perfectionist. It’s looks dead perfect.

I know the attached pictures aren’t great lighting but hopefully you can see what I’m taking about.

Ditto for this question.

Please provide link to the seller of this Carbon fiber kit.

Looks great. 👍

Sorry everyone. I got Covid! For some reason the specific link in my “orders” section has disappeared but here is what I did:

Downloaded AliExpress app or simply go on their website.

Then put in “x5 -g05 carbon fiber” in the search.

Then make SURE you specify RIGHT HAND or LEFT HAND drive as of course it will be different.

I think most of the carbon fiber overlays come from the same factory, but you may want to try to order from the same vendor, because then most likely the weave will be in the same direction if that makes sense

The shipping time could be quite a while and they may come at different speeds but of course eventually everything arrives

When it does, you simply clean the surface in the car and then I would suggest using a hairdryer to heat up the carbon fiber bits, and the 3M tape that is used to stick it on and then put it on in press firmly

There’s all sorts of pieces that go near the gearshift , the windows, and or the AC vents as well.

Please let me know if you have any other questions

I did order a similar set for my son as he has an X.3, and it really does transform the look of the interior

Doesn’t seem like any of the websites show a trim kit for the 2024 X5 or X6. Has anyone vinyl wrapped the dash wood trim? If so, would you mind sharing some info regarding ease of installation, product used as well as a few pics? Thank You.

I'm curious to see what the finish/colour/weave is like on the OEM CF.

Is it Matt/satin/gloss?

Car is in the shop now but from memory it’s gloss. Unrelated photo that shows some of it.

Thanks for that! I managed to find a company that has the experience to remove and dip the trim in a carbon fibre finish https://www.justdipit.com.au/ just waiting for a quote.

One thing I've noticed here in Australia is the <<<<>>>> X5 logo that's lights up on the dash has a pattern through out it. Is this the same for you? (Just not sure if it will clash)

Cheers

Can you explain what you mean a little more? I didn’t quite follow. Maybe I just need more coffee ☕️

PS - this looks like exactly the sort of shop I was thinking of. Seems legit. Hope it turns out great!

I was half asleep typing! My fault.

See attached, does this part of a trim have the same pattern through out for you guys? (Not sure if it will clash with the CF look)

Oddly enough I've noticed condensation on the trim after the aircon is running for some time. Anyone else have this issue?

Cheers

That Ali Express weave is very different from OEM stuff. I don’t think it’s terrible but anyone who knows these car will know right away it’s a sticker. I don’t see why this looks better then whatever factory trim u got.

I think I get what you’re saying now! I will have to look when I have my vehicle back - probably not for another week unfortunately. I don’t remember off the top of my head. If you don’t hear back from me in a week, tag me here and I’ll shoot a photo back for ya.

I disagree, at least based on the photos from bluesmachine's user avatarbluesmachine. Those photos show what appears to be a fantastic outcome to me.

I did skip on a vehicle otherwise equipped exactly how I wanted due to it missing the CF interior trim, so I do value it - but had I been confident I could get the outcome blue shared above… I may have gone for it.

In terms of others knowing it’s a sticker, I guess that comes down to whether you’re doing it to impress others or to adjust what you see in the vehicle each time you get in it. If you like this look better, I see no reason not to do it.

Carbon fiber wasn’t an option for the 45e hence I went the Ali express route.

I can't stand the brown trim, anything is better. :-)

Sorry one more- my goal wasn’t to pass off my interior as OEM for resale. I bought my 45e and w my daily 10-20 miles of driving it’s perfect. 1 year, no issues and only filled up tank 4 or 5 times.

I just did it to modernize the interior and dress it up a bit. I love it. It gets me that much more excited every time I get in.

If I ever sell it - and I don’t see that as my wife would love the car as well I could always pull it off but again I did it just for me.

I would be interested in the part numbers for the dash/console and doors. (For the CF)

Anyone know how I can source these part numbers?

Dipping with cost almost $3.3k AUD

Does this help? Let me know if not and I’ll get another pic.

It sure does! The CF is def glossy

Where I'm getting the condensation, your trim appears to be black - mine appears to have a greyish pattern through out it?
