What about the vibration ?
Its a small motor that you swap from your old wheel into your new along with the other electronics.

I noticed one on eBay that seems “too good to be true” (eg, $400 or so) says in the details that it doesn’t have an “off hand sensor.”

Does this effectively disable the assisted driver modes?

What are the general things to look for in terms of quality and compatibility?

What makes a $1,500 wheel vs a $400 wheel?

Some of the digital readouts/displays at the top center look cool. Seems to be mostly only on Ms. I drive an M60i. Possible to include for me I wonder?

Thanks in advance, never done a wheel and considering whether I want to go down this rabbit hole or not 🙂

Side note - went ahead and got back on Insta so I could ask Carismo, but would love a non-vendor specific consideration if anyone here has input.

In then end I just went back to my old wheel but spiced it up with M1/M2 buttons that cycle through the drive modes, CF trim and extended CF paddles.

Where did you get the buttons and CF pieces from please?

Aliexpress for the buttons, ebay for the CF trim.

Thanks, and to confirm the buttons are plug and play, no coding needed. Be nice to cycle through driving modes as I use them quite a lot.

Any chance of some links please? There's loads on there.

I ordered a CF wheel from ebay - after 1 day of driving with it I had to return it. The contours were so sharp they were uncomfortable and the flat bottom was impractical for anything more than small turns.

Any of you steering wheel experts on here know if a steering wheel from a 2025 M60 that has the Tri color stitching would be plug and play on a 2025 40i that has MSport? Everything looks the same I think as far as the controls on the wheel but not sure they're plug n play?

In follow up to my question above I'm guessing it's plug and play. So, my next question is does the steering wheel need coded? I read all the posts in this thread and you all are saying there's no coding but I think you all are swapping for an aftermarket steering wheel correct? You know if I swap factory wheels from the M60 to my 40i Msport it won't need any coding?

My post from earlier up this thread:

"When you buy a custom steering wheel you get just the bare wheel - no trim, no electrics, nothing (except if its heated it has the element built in).

So you would get a new wheel, and swap all trims and buttons and electric internals from your old wheel to the new. Everything is the same from your current wheel except the 'frame' of the wheel itself."

These customised frames are still OEM parts, they've just retrimmed the leather on the rim. So it's no different to what you're suggesting to all intents and purposes.

So no, no coding is required because you're just going to end up plugging back in your own electronics. As far as the car is concerned you haven't changed the steering wheel at all. If you wanted to just take a complete wheel from an M60 (which is going to be harder to find because sellers tend to only sell the frames, and also why would you want to pay for the internals when you already have them?), then you would need to get one that has the same features yours has. If it did then it wouldn't need coding because again, as far as the car is concerned, there's no change there.

Which is convenient, considering you can't code 2025 cars anyway.

Changed to the carbon fiber faceplate. Added blue M buttons and blue carbon fiber paddles. It took a bit longer then expected because one of the holes for the m button housing wasn’t big enough so I had to dremel that out after trying to figure it out for an hour and a half, it outside of that a bit easier then I thought.

Will probably spend some time during the week to take the faceplate back off and snip some tabs that are creating a gap at the top, and also gotta add the box in the center console that’ll enable the m buttons. Overall pretty happy with it.

Where did you get the anniversary Roundels for the steering wheel?
