Any of these use the stock x5 airbag or do all need a new airbag?

I'm really interested in this. I'm picking up my new 2025 X5 M60i and I want to swap the wheel so bad to the flat bottom one.
I'd buy your steering wheel if it's the Tri color stitched and is brand new.

I managed to fit the LCI OEM steering wheel.
Ordered everything from my local dealer.

The problem was that my automated driving wasn't working anymore.
Tried everything, the solution was to switch the black modules from my old wheel to the new.
Now everything is working!
Had to make the cable for the vibrator a bit longer because you can not unplug it from the black module.

Also the red M1 and M2 buttons are not working.
But for know you can only order the top cover with the holes for these buttons.
So i mounted them, because it looks nice, and now the holes are filled on top of the wheel

These are the parts that i ordered:

Wheel 32305A8A906
Under cover 32305A8A910
Upper cover 32305A8A907
Vibrator 32305A8A8D8
Cable 32305A8A914
CarbonTrim 32307908506
Hornplate 61319882774
Nuts 32305A8A8E2
M1&M2 buttons 61318090047
Airbag 32305A250D1

OMG Dieter09 you are a lifesaver. I am trying to replace the stock wheel on my 2023 X5 50e M-Sport (G05 LCI) with one of these flat bottom LCI wheels. I'm actually happy to not have the carbon and stick with the black and aluminium (silver centre trims) - so will use part 32307908504.
If you don't mind me asking, did you just ask your local dealer to supply the parts list you have? And if I may be so cheeky as to ask what it cost in total ?

I'd love to discuss the entire swap process with you sometime, given you have pretty much done exactly what I am looking to do.

So the new wheel is working in your 25 X6? Besides the vibration motor your waiting for, do you have all original function? Did you have to code any thing?
Trapsoul did you ever swap to the aftermarket steering wheel? If so, you want to sell your stock wheel?

from what i have read it seems like if you use an OEM wheel you need a new airbag. I have a 2025 x6m. Does anyone know if thats definitely true? What airbags are you buying? i thought I saw the x5/6 have a 3 stage airbag and the m3/4 has a 2 stage airbag. Are you coding new airbags?

I was told from a few aftermarket vendors that my existing airbag would work with their wheel. They may be mistaken, or their frame may just support my airbag. Im hoping to get clarity on this though because it basically doubles the cost if I need an airbag.

Still want to do this on my X5M.

Same but I only want OEM and to find a wheel that's plug and play without replacing wires and all that.

Hi, will this fit on the pre lci? As in the wheel fitting on the splines?

I attempted to swap the steering wheel on my 2025 M60i to the OEM LCI flat-bottom wheel, but the new one caused DAP errors.

That's not an LCI wheel. You're in the wrong thread.
Just got this aftermarket wheel fitted.

Do you mind sharing how to retrofit the existing X5 50e wiring harness on the new horn plate since the positive and negative my existing wheel is located on 6 o'clock and 3 o'clock position?

I don't get it with an aftermarket steering wheel. Is this all for having a flat areas? Looks really cool though

Reaching out hopefully for some help. I bought a flat bottom wheel from Alibaba and am having issues. Everything is complete and reinstalled. The airbag will not rock, therefore the horn will not work. Dug into this deeper and the horn plate will not rock. Any recommendations if the product is wrong or what I could have done wrong with the horn plate install?

Can you link to the listing so we can see exactly what we are looking at. Thanks

Thanks for the response. Link follows. I’m going to play with the horn plate this morning, see if I can figure why it will not actuate.

I was able to confirm my horn plate will not work with what they shipped me. Possibly a different shoulder bolt with a deeper shoulder or a different horn plate would resolve my issue. I think the wheel they sent me does not have a notable offset between the thread face and the clicker face.
02-15-2026
Attached is photos showing the clicker height is much taller on the Ali wheel.

It seems some wheels and horn plates are not compatible to allow the horn plate to function Understood it’s an aftermarket wheel, however this design works for some customers. I think it’s possible the 3 series horn plate would function with the wheel I bought. I’m trying to return anyway to China.

The one you bought probably isn't right one for the suv. There's a ridiculous range in their description. I know for a fact people have bought this one and it takes all parts from OEM wheel into it plus the airbag. You can message them and alter whatever you want. The listing below is incorrect and it's actually a 14.5" wheel fyi.

Thank you very much for the reply. Greatly appreciate. I’m following through with the return. I’ve already spent entirely too much time attempting to troubleshoot further.

I also reached out to paddleshifterz. They also do not seem to have an understanding of what will work. I don’t want to buy a new airbag. There has to be a wheel which should accept my horn plate and airbag.

Do you by chance have guidance on which chassis code wheel would work without replacing the airbag?
