It appears that the brake master cylinder and brake controller are the same part numbers between the M and Non-M G series X5. Has anyone had any luck with getting X5M braking code options added to their non M x5?

I have been disappointed with the pedal calibration on my SDrive40i - it’s long and relatively soft floor which is a total departure from what what you’d expect from a big fixed piston setup like the M Sports

Not sure you're going to get what you want anyway. The diameter of the rotors and calipers are totally different. The codes for the M sport brakes also depend on what year vehicle and options you have. Can you give a bit more detail on what you have ... year, model, options? Assuming you just want the vehicle to think it has M sport brakes, you can VO code and add the 02NH option (depends on year) and then code the appropriate modules. There is no standalone brake option on the F95 (X5M) because it already has the better brakes.

Fair point. I’m trying to understand more about this apparent adjustable brake setting in the X5m that changes pedal feel/feedback. That seems like it would awesome but am wondering if that pedal profile is its own thing or if it’s somehow linked to how the brake booster works in that car. For example would X5M pedal calibration be linked to how the booster applies actual line pressure or handles dsc? Or is pedal mapping its own thing that can be applied without impacting booster output or dsc stuff. I have a 2020 sdrive40i with msport brakes.

What you said about 02NH being an "option" has me thinking - perhaps the X5M brake booster is separate programming altogether? wondering if it can be flashed? reminds me of how ABS modules on street car based touring cars with factory support would have motorsport-use calibrations replacing what was on the street cars.

I have a recall appointment coming up, I may try and bug someone at the dealership about this

The only way to figure it out for sure would be to use E-Sys and modify your FA/VO so your vehicle appears to be an F95 instead of G05. E-Sys will then calculate everything it needs to do (TAL calculation) such as firmware flash programming and coding (config changes). You'd have to do this from a version of E-Sys that has the exact same firmware version as your vehicle is already on or it will recommend firmware changes for the sake of upgrading, not because the series changed. I can tell you without question that if you do that, it's going to recommend firmware flashing on a lot of modules that may or may not be compatible with your vehicle and potentially brick it. Your vehicle is a B58 and not S63 engine. It uses 2 DME versus 1. The transmission is different, HU_MGU (iDrive screen) uses different coding and possible firmware for sure do give you the M setup screens. The M setup screens work with a different gear selector in the console and m specific module. That wouldn't work with yours. Even if you could isolate the ABS module or brake booster specific elements, you would not be able to go into the iDrive and change the config due to reason above. Before you go crazy and break your car, maybe try a brake fluid flush by the dealer or someone that has ISTA and see if maybe that helps a bit.

Thanks for the insight on this. And no worries going crazy and breaking the car; Id have to get my head well around this stuff before doing anything to the car. While not an iBooster chassis, I did find a great discussion on M2 pedal feel issues with possible improvements from user daap1193. Im curious to see if developments have continued into iBooster equipped cars.

Hello! I have a couple of question:

I’m upgrading my European spec 2020 g05 x 3.0 diesel. From standard brakes ( 348mm fornt) to M brakes . ( I find a mint used complete set of rotors and calipers )
Front brake will be than 398mm and rear 370 mm
Long story short:

I asked my bmw dealer to upgrade the car , they told me they can do the mechanical job but don’know if coding is needed and however can’t do the coding…

question 1 :
Is software coding needed with this brakes ?
Question 2
If coding is neaded, how can I preceeed?
Is there the possibility to do it troug Bimmerocode?
Thanks to all!!
