I have been looking for a 2023 X5 that met the options to the best degree possible, I found 2 this past month and both dealerships dropped me from being a candidate because I was not paying "Cash". A dealership is a business and if they don't want to take my money because I am financing thats there business, then DO NOT POST an ONLINE PURCHASING PLATFORM ON YOUR WEBSITE. 2 Southern Cal dealerships told me the vehicle was available but that casually told me to "hold on a minute let me double check" right after they asked me if I was going to pay cash or finance, then came back and said "oh I'm sorry that vehicle was sold", when it wasn't and the recent was "it's available but just not to you because you are not paying as a cash customer". I was approved for the purchase from my credit union ready to purchase but because I was not paying cash they segregated me out because they were not the ones making the money from the financing. They tried to sell it off due to too much paper work and possible fraud with taxes and registration issues, BS, other dealerships have a process on how this all works as do the financial institutions, it's no different than if I was purchasing in state. So those of you like me who had a dream car you wanted for me it is the X5, don't get your hopes up if you find on online, just want you to be aware this can happen to you. I thouroughly investigate this with my state DMV, 2 financial instituitions in AZ and CA, 2 in state BMW dealerships, and a 3 in CA who was williing to help me get a car and told me about this debacle other dealerships partake in, once a X5 comes in I will be purchasing thru them, unless they change their mind. Thank you for posting any input or suggestions, I would greatly appreciated your support.

tough read man, paragraphs are good. You could have financed, and just paid it off as well.

For what its worth, I bought out of state, paid cash, and had a great experience. I think this is very much dealer dependent.

True, it usually is in or out of state

Yeah that's what I am finding. I watched some YouTube videos on this exact issue and this problem does exist, it does come down to dealer preference, I guess I can say I don't blame them if the state titling is the issue. I have spoke to 2 other BMW dealers and both looked away at responding to me once I tripped their online interest in the car macros and ask which car I was interested in then they asked right away are you financed and out of state, and then they got quiet asked politely if thats ok with their finance dept, came back and said sorry cant help you. So I am working with one BMW dealership in LA and they so far have been really understanding I just have to wait it out or wish for a X5 to be available here in Phoenix. Thank you for your response much appreciated.

I recently again tried to work a deal with their Finance and Sales Manager, really nice people don't get me wrong. They decided to onlyh work with me this one time because typically they don't work with out of state regardless, but probably because I was going to pay full price, they decided to give me one option and that was to pay with cash from my own personal bank account. Because I am financing, that is not possible. So I worked with Chase to help with this issue, and submitted this letter to the dealership -

"I am writing to clarify the payment process for my wanting to purchase the 2023/X5 BMW.
While we previously discussed a personal wire transfer via text, there were no set instructions on how the wire is to take place or anything other than the CNB letterhead with their routing number and account number. As you may already know, this vehicle would be financed through a pre-approved Chase Auto Loan coupled with a down payment. To satisfy your requirement for immediate, non-reversible funds, I have coordinated with Chase to send a Direct Funding Wire for the loan amount.

To ensure this meets your "personal identification" and "tax compliance" standards, I can take the following steps:

*Branch Authentication: I can visit a Chase branch in person to have a banker initiate the wire there in Irvine. This ensures my identity is verified and my name is attached to the transaction metadata.
*VIN/Buyer Memo: I would instruct Chase to include my full name and the full VIN of the vehicle in the wire’s reference/memo field.
*Fedwire Verification: This will be sent via Fedwire (not ACH) for same-day clearing. Once initiated, I will provide you with the Federal Reference Number (IMAD/OMAD) so your finance team can track and confirm the funds immediately.

If this process is in compliance with what is acceptable within your policy guide lines, please confirm that your finance department can accept this direct lender wire in lieu of a personal cash wire, as it provides the same level of security and a clear audit trail for the out-of-state sale.
I look forward to finalizing the transport details once the funds clear.I am writing to clarify the payment process for my wanting to purchase the 2023/X5 BMW.

But irvine dealership still refused, and I do respect their decision just doesn't make sense. If they changed their mind I would still work with them if I haven't found what I am looking for, but apparently that isn't going to happen. yeah lease might work, I hear ya, best of luck though.

Pure laziness by a dealer who wasn't willing to do the small amount of extra work (and probably a bit of expense) to sell out of state, since dealers can use out of state titling services to handle the paperwork. I just bought a '23 M440 in New Jersey and drove it home to Kentucky. Did the whole deal in about six hours from the time I walked into take a test drive. The only hiccup was figuring out the KY-mandated inspection process once I got home before I could get a registration/title.

Exactly, I helped that dealer make the transition so easy it was pathetic. I worked with the company that handles the paperwork directly and as she even told me, Arizona is the easiest state to get the paperwork through cleaning and quickly, no brainer. Now I am 2 plus months into still looking for an X5 with a trailer hitch in the Extended Shadowline trim and nothing has come up for a 2023 model. Come April if nothing pops up and am going to venture off into something else, maybe a KIA Telluride, LOL, jk! I'll get ripped off my the BMW dealers anyways knowing the model is rare, oh well. Glad yours worked out that is really awesome and thank you for sharing and the support!
