— The team has been working on optimizing energy accumulation in slower sections, potentially using lower gears to maintain high rotation speeds. This strategy is part of Ferrari's effort to maximize the SF-26's capabilities without directly competing with Mercedes' strengths.
This is not so much a new strategy, but an outcome of Ferrari choosing the smallest turbo on the grid. All season they will be at a harvesting disadvantage compared to big turbo PU's.

Ferrari cannot harvest like Merc. Ferrari will always be more at risk of super-clipping compared to Merc. Especially late on straights. This is why they have to maximize harvesting in slower sections, but there is a limit to that...where they start losing out on lap time.

They traded speed over a race distance for demon starts. Starts don't mean anything when Merc just flies by 5 laps later. My opinion they chose the wrong PU strategy. They will have a larger turbo next year.

🚨 | BREAKING!
It wasn’t a failure but a trick involving Mercedes’ bi-phase wing, clearly providing interesting advantages.
Ferrari has explicitly requested clarification from the FIA regarding the mechanism.
Merc wing already passed static testing. The supposed system seems to only work under dynamic loads. Could end up being a flexi-wing situation all over again.. They passed static tests, but during racing they flex like wet noodles.

Ferrari wants clarification, because they want to copy it.

I wouldn't bet folding money on this being over. When you win too often you attract scrutiny, scrutiny attracts rule clarifications, rule clarifications stop you from winning too much. :D

It will be very interesting to see how things pan out in Japan, still a lot of variables to consider.

My guesses:

1. HAM
2. LEC
3. RUS
4. ANT.
5. VER
6. NOR
7. HAD
8. PIA
9. BEA
10. GAS

Last years race showed how a car that is not the fastest can win at Suzuka. I think the Ferrari's superior launch will get them in front and as Russell said, Ferrari are fast enough in the right areas to stay in front as long as mishaps, poor pit performance, bad strategy or systems failures don't interfere with their race. But this is Ferrari...

The Nissan has 650 HP and sounds much better.

The Red Bull RB22 has 500 HP without the Ford dildo battery.

No problem with the green regulations, Just move along, nothing to see here.
FIA @fia
An ajustement to the energy management parameters for Qualifying at the #JapaneseGP has been agreed with the unanimous support of all Power Unit Manufacturers.

So much for the drivers and fans "Tilting at windmills"

"The FIA notes that the first events under the 2026 Regulations have been operationally successful, and this targeted refinement is part of the normal process of optimisation as the new regulatory framework is further validated in real-world conditions."

the FIA actually found something wrong, but Mercedes said it was a miscalculation of hydraulic pressure required to close the wing and FIA was satisfied.

so we will not see this happen again in Japan i think ...
