Hello all,

I am a new owner of a 2020 x5 and have just performed my first transfer case fluid change after experiencing a very very slight shutter on lock to lock turns in drive/reverse. I have seen countless threads touching on this. However, I have not yet seen much in the way of transfer case life after proper service. In other words, are there experiences of people having lasting transfer cases after experiencing issues, or is the first sign of shutter the absolute sign of premature failure?

Appreciate the input.

30-40k max, even with fluid change.

100K miles easy using Redline MT-LV 70w/75w GL-4 and oil changes every 20K miles

I don’t think so. That’s why there’s a class action lawsuit in process for all the unsuspecting victims of just junk for drivetrains, including the front differentials failing at very low miles. Mine failed at 36k miles. $11k for a replacement 🥺
