My neighbor has a 2025 or 2026 X3. I was asking him how he liked it. He said that he drives pretty hard and he averages 31 mpg. He does not do much interstate driving. This is pretty amazing fuel mileage.

My M2 is rated at 23 highway and I consistently (every week) average 28-29 mpg cruising at 85 mph on a 250 mi trip.

Around town it's rated at ~16 mpg, and I get about 22 mpg. I have 39k mi on it, so lots of data.

The X3 is rated at 29 combined, so 31 is not unreasonable.

Pretty sure the newest revisions are 48V mild hybrid, I'm sure that is a large factor.

I’ve been very impressed with the latest b58 so far

My 540 just got 39.9 mpg on an easy 40 mile drive with some bursts from stop signs

The B58TU2 is an amazing engineering marvel. People who don’t know any better will hate on those of us who own a BMW with the TU2 and call us liars—even if you show them hard, cold data. But yes, it’ll easily average 31 mpg, especially if you drive far enough for it to complete its warm-up and reach full operating temperature. If you don’t, you’ll be lucky to see anything above 25 mpg.

Our ‘25 X3 30 is averaging 33.7 mpg overall (37.3 for May). Yesterday I drove approximately 90 miles, about 80% highway and when I checked last night it averaged 42.5 mpg. Best I have had. I was driving mostly on Efficient mode and roughly 63 and 72 mph with a light foot on the accelerator. Sometimes I use Sport mode, but not yesterday.

Yes, our 26 X3M50 gets 30 mpg average. The B58 with the mild hybrid is a very wonderful combo. Also, there is no hint of turbo lag in any of our driving.

I think the hybrid really helps bring up the city portion of the driving that traditionally pulls the average down. On non hybrid cars, you look at the average speed and will find that the cars with low mpg have a lower average speed due to city traffic driving, and the cars with decent mpg have a much higher average speed due to mostly highway driving, where the 2 overdrive gears of the 8 speed auto often have the engine running at around 1500 rpm.

I have not yet owned a hybrid car. My sister in law just bought a CPO 2024 X7 M60i and I think it is great though I personally do not need a car that big. I do not really like the new M5 that gained about 1000 lbs. Not sure how much more a B58TU car weighs compared to the predecessor non hybrid version.

It is really amazing. We all talk about how amazing the B58 is but the B48 is also outstanding.

I totally agree. I personally would have chosen the M50 for my “daily” (I’m retired) but my wife didn’t see the need for that kind of power and she’s happy with the B48. It actually has decent acceleration and great handling (X3 30). Yesterday I wanted to see what it would do if driven moderately, given the current gasoline environment.
