Floor Mats and Wheel locks

I just picked up my 26 X5 factory order and it doesn’t have all weather mats or wheel locks included. I actually didn’t even see them offered as factory options anymore. Fortunately I have a few sets of floor mats so not a huge deal. Anybody know if these are still offered or if they should have been included?

For typical factory wheels, I would say don't bother with wheel locks. It brings more trouble for non criminal to take wheel off (such as yourself or tire shop) than help to prevent real criminal to steal your wheel (5 min delay at most)

My 2026 40i came with carpet not all weather mats and I ordered the wheel locks on the build sheet.

Wheel locks are an accessory the dealer can order and install. Car comes with carpeted floor mats only.

Yea. When I did my order I didn’t even see it as an option. Must have missed it. Checked my window stickers for my other ones and it’s listed on all of em including a first aid kit. Good point about the locks. Don’t think I need em.

Some dealers include them, but they don't (at least in the USA) come as standard equipment like they do in some other countries. What comes 'standard' in the vehicle is determined by the local BMW division.

Beating a dead horse here.....I have never bought wheel locks, only gotten rid of them.

Quick story: Many years ago, my E34 was at a shop for a few days. Thieves stole the ugly "basket weave" wheels. The owner of the shop felt bad and ended up giving me a used set of wheels that looked way better!!

Funny you mention this. I have a 40i on order and, of course, only the regular mats are noted on the dealers vehicle inquiry. But I noticed both rubber floor mats and wheel locks are listed in my car's features online, in the "Added Options" pull down. Of course, it also lists "Alpine White," which my car is not, so there's that.

Seeing rubber mats got me excited but the BMW Genius burst my bubble. But the kid in me is still holding out hope. I won't be disappointed if it's just the regular carpet but rubber mats would be an amazing surprise.

That said, I don't get why it's not an upgrade option. I imagine it would save a lot of carpeted mats from going direct to landfill. Back in the day BMW's didn't come with any mats and the dealer presented them as a "gift" at delivery and if they were carpet you could politely ask to pay the difference for rubber.

Hopefully they show up for you as a gift. That would be a nice surprise. I’m guessing my ordering dealer didn’t ask if I wanted them because I couldn’t choose it from the website when I built my X5. I think the extras were like 700 bucks all together so they saved me some money by not ordering.

Forget about the wheel locks. The new ones look so fragile compared to the old-style wheel locks. I heard numerous stories of the wheel lock that broke at a tire shop. I have them on my current car; I won't spend money on the next one, though.

I’m sure there’s 10 threads here on mats. Weather tech makes a good product. The regular bmw rubber mats are ok but lack coverage in the front. They make a high sided front mat that is much better if you want the stock look. I’d recommend those if you live where there is salt on the roads. I’m not buying wheel locks for this one. They’re just stealing the entire car here anyways.

Vehicle comes with carpet floor mats. Wheel locks and all weather mats are accessories you can order. By the way, pretty much every vehicle from any manufacturer comes this way - some don’t even come with carpet floor mats.

That said, the floor mats you currently have may not fit properly. My advise is to just get the OEM all weather mats specific to your vehicle. I have tried a few but always come back to the OEM.

For the wheel locking nuts, order from your local BMW shop. They aren’t expensive. Keep the key in the vehicle. BMW shops (and some non-BMW shops) have a master key if you forget to bring yours for tire change tasks.

3wliners are solid and cheap. BMW's look nicer but not as functional. With my 2nd X5 i used the BMW all weather (due to looks) and kept the 3wliner for the trunk. In other news, i have a set of front and rear passenger 3wliners sitting around.
