Did a bunch of comfort coding on my G05 last weekend — some worked, some didn't
Finally got around to coding my 22 X5 40i. Been putting it off for months. Did it remotely through a coding service since I didn't want to mess with E-Sys myself.
Here's what I got done:
The stuff that made a real difference:
Mirror auto fold on lock / unfold on unlock. Honestly this should come standard on a car at this price. Now every time I walk away the mirrors tuck in, come back and they pop out. Small thing but I love it.
Auto start-stop stays off. This was the big one. I was pressing that button literally every single morning for two years. Now the car starts and start-stop is already disabled. Done.
Windows close on lock. Left a window cracked at the grocery store the other day in the rain. Locked the car from the fob and it closed automatically. Already saved me once.
Anti-dazzle high beam. I posted about this one before. Still the best single mod I've done on this car. Night driving is a totally different experience.
Stuff that's nice but whatever:
Digital speedometer overlay in the cluster
Needle sweep on startup
Turn signals set to 5 blinks instead of 3
Locking horn chirp
The one thing that annoyed me — I asked about coding the exhaust valve to stay open in sport mode but apparently on the 40i the valve behavior is tied into the drive mode logic differently than the M cars. Still looking into that one.
Whole thing took maybe an hour total for everything. If I had to pick just one it would be the start-stop disable, if I had to pick two I'd add the anti-dazzle. Those two alone were worth it.
Anyone else done a big batch of coding on their G05? Curious what I'm missing.

I had it done by MTRIUPGRADE, which cost me several hundred US dollars.

You could have most of it yourself with BimmerCode or ProTools for a fraction of the price.
