This will be the first time I've ever towed anything with the X5. So excited, I had to get a picture of it.

The 2017 Indian Chieftain gets dropped off for new tires tomorrow.

What are you towing with your X5/6/7???

Nice picture and nice motor.

I only have a tow hook to attach my bicycle carrier.

Your picture also remembers me that next to our bad roads we are also know for our "special" architectural choice in houses. 😜. Judging on you earlier pictures I suppose it is not yours

The house right behind the car is ours (renting). The pointy house belongs to the neighbors.

That's what I thought from your other pictures. I was talking about the pointy house.

Here's my contribution. Trailex CT-3541 ~900lbs, S2000 ~2,800lbs, total weight ~4,000lbs. I use a Tekonsha Prodigy wireless brake controller. The X5 tows it pretty easily, I don't usually get to 8th gear on the highway but I get ~15mpg towing.

I remember back in the mid/late 2000s, I was heavily involved in the track racing scene, and regularly competed in lap battle sessions with my 06 STI, at Miller motorsports park in Tooele, Utah.

I left more Porsche and Corvette owners scratching their heads, wondering how in the hell they just had their asses handed to them by a 4cyl, 4-door sedan. The only cars that beat me, were exotics, or STIs/Evos that had more $$$ in their cars than me....

.... and properly prepared S2000s. I never thought much of them.... until I saw them perform at the track. I'm not sure what sort of wizardry those Honda engineers put in an S2000...... but whatever it was, it worked.

I tow the Mastercraft wakeboarding boat on a tandem trailer. About 6900lbs. X5 handles super well, very comfortable towing with the X5 but wifes Jeep Grand Cherokee not bad either. Lots of power and stability up hills and around corners. I have the xDrive 40i M Sport with air suspension, M Sport brakes and towing kit among options list.

Nice.

Have you measured your tongue weight on that setup? It should, of course, be about 690lbs for stability per the usual 10% rule of thumb. If it is around that, it seems the rear suspension can take that load without issue, I don't see any excess compression there. There is a discussion and concern that the max tongue weight spec'd for all X5 is just a bit over 550lbs, hence the questions.

Here is the caravan that we tow with the X5 - a 26 foot Bailey Unicorn twin axle. Tows very well behind the X5. Since we have had a fair few Land Rover Discovery models prior to the X5, which had much more weight upfront to give really good stable towing, the X5 is definitely on a par with those. More grunt from the diesel engine helps with acceleration and also the mpg is better whilst towing (better areodynamics, lower overall weight of the combined unit) - a good win-win situation for us.

Note that this pic is from late last year, when I had the caravan serviced, hence all the others in the background! What with COVID-19 shutting down all the camp sites, not had any time away with it this year yet to get better pics! And we have had unbelievably good weather these last 3 months which is all the more grating but hoping that at some point we'll get away for a break in the caravan.

p.s - yes, there are other colours!

Is that Sandstone Metallic paint? Looks great with the black wheels!

I swear my F15 got much better mileage, I tow a light aluminum open 6.5x12ft trailer usually with my bike or dirt bikes on it, but even with one 400 lb bike on it, I get like 12 mpg, trailer only weighs 800 lbs, feels like nothing is there but fuel economy is cut in half.

First sandstone M I see. I didn't know this used to be available. I thought it was only on x line models. Looks great with the black wheels.

Nice to see the rare and early launch C1N Sunstone Metallic in the forum especially in M Sport line. You should post more photos in Photos subforum:
