I'll mention it to them. Hopefully they'll help other folks out who have this same issue.
For what it's worth, I just brought my F96 in for this today and my SA said there was an SIB "released today"… (yeah right) for this issue.

I've had the car for about about 6-weeks. Started making noise after about 4-weeks. 950 miles. Super weird but they are taking care of it.

This is great info thank you. Could you please post the bulletin/work order if possible.

Once I get my car back I'll post the paperwork.

Unfortunately, after they did the work, the valet scratched the entire right side of the rear quarter of the car. No lie: fender flare, quarter panel, door, rim… a total mess. They are handling it, and I really like my dealer, but this was a tough one.

that sucks!!!!
curious whether those type of accidents show up on carFax for the next owner?

I just got mine back from the dealer for this issue. This is the second time it happens in 3 months. It's a sway bar link that gets loosened up for an unknown reason and ends up causing the knocking noise. It gets progressively worse with time. They tightened up the nut again and are waiting for a replacement part. Not sure what the permanent fix is as the issue doesn't make too much sense (a nut consistently getting loose).
I haven't had time to dive too much into it but if it happens again, I'm going under the car myself to troubleshoot.

Would like to know what your dealer ends up saying. Thanks in advance!

Make sure you get a "Diminished Value" adjustment. Your resale just went down the toilet.

Who would define the diminished value its self? I mean where does the figure actually come from? I'd hate to ask a dealer to do so and they give me their thoughts.

Well weird went 3k miles with no issue and now the knocking. took to BMW they said everything was fine even when I showed them the bulletin. Frustrating. I may call back and demand they do it. 8th BMW in 10 years. Also reached out to Ben at RG Sport see if it's just shims that will work and not have to deal with the stealer ship. But is the sway bar bigger?

Just want it solid and not have to think about it.

After the shims that Ben provided my shop got installed, I haven't had the issue.

Does this only impact x6m? I don't have the noise while making slow turns, but I get some nasty clunking noise on the rear passenger wheel well if I hit a pot hole while accelerating. These aren't even massive potholes.. I would expect the x5m to eat them up without issue. Just wondering if it could be related to this end link shim…

I have an X6m

I read a thread talking about that, it's coming from the folding seats hinges. Some used electric tape, some used liquid rubber.
happened to me once when hitting a speed bump fast. I sort of knew it's coming from the back seat, I folded it and slammed it hard, didn't hear since. I may try the tape though if reoccurred.

Can someone post a picture of the shims, just for reference please.

Its pretty much a super thin hardened steel washer.
If I remember correctly, the one I have is 0.2mm thick.

I have a similar noise form the rear of my f95. I keep telling my wife something must be rolling around in the trunk, but there's nothing there. I guess I'll have my tech investigate it before we do the MSS 😉.

Cause you know aftermarket suspension did it.

So upon further investigation it seems that BMW tech are well aware of this issue. The only resolution at this point is to replace the end links which only last for so long. Supposedly they're doing that to mine as well, but there is no official fix to it and they are all aware of it.

Bummer but I guess these things do tend to happen.

BMW have issued a fix notice for noise related to the rear sway bar.
Many have had their vehicles fixed under this directive it applies for both X5M & X6M
