Hello

Can you please share the maintenance schedule for flushing Coolant for 2019 X5 x40i?

Thanks in advance

Starting in 2005, the BMW coolant became a "Lifetime Fill". BMW doesn't list a coolant flush interval on any of their new cars. I guess the fluid will eventually get changed when the electric water pump and/or the thermostat fails...probably somewhere between 60K and 100K miles. I miss the days when I could simply drain and refill the cooling system on BMWs every 3-4 years.

Don’t worry a light flushing the system. Around 60k-70k miles, the expansion tank or lower radiator hose will crack and leak. All mine did that, and repeatedly did that. You will lost most if not all coolant at that repair. So indirectly, system will be flushed. Life time fluid is life time is the weakest part of the system.

Even before 2005. I have 2003 E39 and 2004 E46, both have “life time coolant”. Cannot tell when they started.

I wonder which region is this. Coolant is definitely not in my G05 maintenance schedule

Can I have these documents for 2021 G30 540i ? I'm unable to find them.

3 years or 36k miles is a good preventive schedule or annually depending on your environment and usage. You can't go wrong with doing things before they are due. I'll share this video with all on coolant.

Bang on!
I had lower radiator hose start leaking at 59K. Got the thermostat replaced as well - big bill nearly touching 2K.

As you are so experienced with this, what has been the cost of replacement around where you are?

So far, I have been doing this repair myself. My cars are e39 (s62), e46 (M54) and e82 (N54). They are quite simple to do. Maybe about 45min-1hr for at home DIY.

B58 thermostat is electric, and quite a bit more expansive, about $300-$350. It is located under intake plenum. So plenum needs to be removed for this job. Lower radiator hose is like $120. 1 bottle of coolant, $30. Let’s call all parts and misc material $600. My guess this will take me 2 hours. An experienced tech with proper tools will be quicker. But let’s call it 2 hr of labor. So maybe $1200-$1500 at Indy mechanics. $2k at dealer isn’t out is expectation.

G05 has reach this kind is mileage yet, so purely guesstimate.

Interesting. I've just had my first post-warranty inspection from my dealership, and they recommended a coolant flush, as well as replacement of two "front thrust arms", and a gas ventilation hose (I'd taken it in bc my check engine light was on). It's a PHEV (2021 X5 45e, 62000 km--or about 53000 on the ICE).

Because the proposed costs made my eyes go "ayYUgah" like a 1940s Daffy Duck cartoon, I took it to another shop for the "thrust arms." They assured me there is no need to replace them.

And the ventilation hose? The check engine light went off after they inspected it, and never went back on. My guess: Loose gas cap. Tho they assured me that it had failed a "smoke test." I'll be taking my chances. It could be a rolling bomb, I suppose...but somehow I doubt it. I think their test inadvertently fixed it.

I've learned much about how much to trust my dealership. According to my mechanic, there's a lot of BMW owners who come to them after jobs are recommended by the dealer that turn out not to be necessary.
