Hi all,

Today I was driving to Mercer Island, and for some strange reason, a rock hit the back of my X5 and now I have a nasty paint chip :mad0260:

I got an estimate from Pacific Auto Repair (close by BMW Seattle) for $2,500 which is ridiculous as they want to paint the whole panel.

It's such a small thing, but I want it fixed. Does anyone know of a paint chip repair shop?

It’s sucks! Unfortunately, it happens and nothing we can do about. I personally would leave it alone or just touch it up myself. Any reputable bodyshop you will go they will either charge arm and a leg or the ones that don’t, will probably make it worse.

Fixing that tiny chip is totally not worth all the negatives of painting that panel. I’d just live with it or use a little bit of touch up paint. Don’t overthink it :)

Buy a bottle of OE touch up paint in your color and put a little dot of paint over the chip with a toothpick, save $2,475.

Try "Scratches Happen" touch up paint kits.

I have like 10 of these rock chips all over my car. I just live with it

I hate when people say "just leave it". To me that is the attitude of procrastinator and not a true Beemer advocate. I asked for a solution, not an opt-out.

Same day in Bellevue

They have done several fixes for me in the past.

@derek.megyesi I’m in a similar situation. Were you able to get it fixed at SameDay in Bellevue?

The factory touch-up pen really does fix/hide something small like that REALLY good though. More rock chips are going to happen; especially in Washington.

Touchup pen I use: https://a.co/d/0er8QYSb

This is why some others have suggested this method.

That's really good on you to want to keep it perfect, though... So I can definitely understand that too.

Please reply here after whichever solution you go with... Thanks!

Check locally for a Colors on Parade franchisee. They work with dealers nationwide and are very good at what they do. Most dealers have a go to business that comes in for these types of jobs and are usually very reasonable.
