Gladiator1972 wroteYes! 275/40R22 & 315/35R22So those are 35 in the back and 40 in the front?
elJames wroteThey look good, better ride quality than the 30/35?Yes! 275/40R22 & 315/35R22

Gladiator1972 wroteYes, 100% better all around and noticed a difference immediately. All driving dynamics from steering input to road confidence to comfort greatly improved. All I wish is that I had done this sooner! They look good, better ride quality than the 30/35?
elJames wroteLooks great! Any chance for a full side profile shot?Pardon the dusty wheels, but let me know if I can post anything else!
But what is your feel for Continental tires?
I feel Pirelli’s pick up every single bloody pothole and little cracks Im driving over
I really love these tires for highway / fast driving but for every day driving, I feel like R20 / 21s would’ve been much more comfortable and practical
Betep2024 wroteThere seems to be a general consensus among other threads that the Pirelli’s have a stiffer sidewall, and ride a little more rough and responsive compared to the Continental tires that come stock. In my experience I found the stock Continental soft. They have a rounded top to their sidewall profile which I think worked to help them feel comfortable, but I think they were a little “mushy” at highway speeds. Both the Pirelli and Conti have short sidewalls, so a little comfort and confidence is lost to your pothole concern with both, which is one of the reasons I sized up to taller tires. I recommend sizing up to 275/40 & 315/35 if you’re looking for a better driving experience overall!I got 30s thread and Pirelli’s

TroyJam wroteAbsolutely! Just drove up and back to Mammoth Lakes from Los Angeles with these tires. They performed incredibly and can not imagine doing this trip comfortably with stock sizes, especially off pavement.Looks great! Any chance for a full side profile shot?

Extra points for the Mammoth pic, that's where I learned to ski!
elJames wroteHow does it affect your tachometer, any idea? also, where did you get them installed, I see Discount Tire won't install a tire not OEM size.Yes, 100% better all around and noticed a difference immediately. Gladiator1972 wroteI purchased them from Simple Tire and had them installed by America's Tire. Other than the service tech asking if I "meant to go a little taller" it was business as usual. How does it affect your tachometer, any idea? also, where did you get them installed, I see Discount Tire won't install a tire not OEM size.
As far as the tachometer, there is no error compared to stock. The visualizer I've attached, also checking Waze, and radar speed signs confirm this.

Gladiator1972 wroteProbably would’ve been a good idea but drives fine so I actually did not.Did you do a wheel alignment afterward?
elJames wroteGorgeous. Two questions, are you running spacers because the fitment is perfect. What model do you have? One more profile pic..
pnice1p wroteNope, no spacers! And it’s a ‘23 xDrive 40i.Gorgeous. Two questions, are you running spacers because the fitment is perfect. What model do you have?
elJames wroteAre you on air or the standard springs? I’ve got an M50i with the MSport suspension and looking to take the bite off the ride quality a bit. You mentioned you noticed the difference immediately, do you mind describing which qualities are improved?Nope, no spacers! And it’s a ‘23 xDrive 40i.
swanlake wroteI was coming from the stock Continental PC6 so my experience may be different if you're on Pirelli. My X5 felt "soupy" on them, especially at highway speeds. My steering wheel felt disconnected, and the tires made the car feel like it was never properly aligned. This spec changed all that and I feel like I'm driving a BMW again. Rather than running the stock "rubber bands", this size definitely gives me more comfort overall and more confidence on uneven surfaces and over potholes. The tires are really not that much bigger, but having a little more air is definitely noticeable. I'm in LA and the long highway drives feel better, the car feels more steady and squared at highway speeds. My wife and I are also frequent backpackers and snowboarders, so I needed a tire I could also use off pavement, and I did not have confidence using the stock profile to do that. This slightly taller tire spec (275/40R22 & 315/35R22) seems more appropriate for a car of this size and weight, and based on the current spy shots of the next gen X5, which in some photos is running this exact size, it seems like BMW has hopefully figured that out.Are you on air or the standard springs? It looks great, fills out the wheel well, and give a more luxurious ride while still being sporty.
I'm thinking about getting the DSW 06 setup for chicago all season
