I was concerned about the non-functioning connected drive and apps for a US Spec car here in Italy too... However, I can confirm that it works flawlessly, no issues. I just received a new custom ordered 2025 X5 Drive 40i and all I did was send the email to BMW NA with a copy of the title and registration for validation (dealer said to do this for the warranty to start even though Im in Italy and there is a warranty while in Europe too). Anyhow, not sure if it was the validation over email, but all I know is that I have Connected Drive and have the My BMW App and can access all features with no issues for the apps and remote start, remote viewing, everything, etc.
Technically only supported frequency in EU for US cars is LTE 7. For some it works, for some it doesn't. My case it does not work in Germany, but works in France. It's very frustrating. I have tried getting in touch with different coders, no one was able to help. Everyone is same frustrated. I have called CD Germany, they explained that it is not even supposed to work lol  even though they declare roaming works in western part of EU. Probably the woman the phone wasn't very qualified... Well anyway, I still don't have CD working on my G26 2022. I really want to have RTTI for maps and remote ventilation, since BMW navigation is much better integrated + HUD and it works amazing on long trips...

I still have BMW USA CD account linked to my vehicle, didn't need to send any papers or anything, everything worked online. But that was in France, as soon as I came back to Germany, no connection.

Hi, I have xdrive45e 2022 from USA. I've contacted USA CD support, sent documents and now I can see my car status on mybmw app.( I can lock, unlock etc). The problem is that I can't create driver profile and only thing I have in apps is bmw assist. I tried service update but it was unsuccessful. The other problem is that I have software from 2023 and according to app it's the newest version which obviously isn't. Do you have any tips how can I fix those issues? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys. Thanks to everyone who shared their experience of connecting the application. I also have a car from the USA, BMW i4 2024. The car does not connect to the Internet. Tell me, can there be roaming in Romania? I plan to go there to connect.

Hello, can you help me start online services?
I recoded a car from the USA G30 2022 with MGU ID7 to ECE, but when I want to update the online services options, they are grayed out, ISTA also tried to update online services but without success, it tells me to update in the unit, but in turn I can't in the unit because it is unavailable (grayed out). ATM is connected correctly in roaming as LTE and has full range. The My BMW application launched by the service in the USA and it works, recognizes the car and I can control various functions. I can't only start the connected drive option, I'm from Poland. Please help.

Were you able to solve the problem? I have the same issue, but with the X5 G05 LCI. App and service data are not updating, and the Apple CarPlay icon has also disappeared.

Data transmission is active (roaming). I can turn the remote features on and off through the MyBMW app.

Hi lads, any updates on making online services working in Lithuania?
Connected Drive USA told, that i need to share them translated documents of car ownership, but i don’t really know where to do that, all the places say, that cant notoriously confirm translation.

It does not work in Lithuania, only starting from Poland towards west. You can go to Poland, get connection, update all apps, login to your CD account, but no online connecting when back in Lithuania.

Nothing at all, even dealerships don't want to sell/replace TCB modules due to car data being on US server side. And since only 1 frequency of TCB module matches the one used in EU, means chances to get connectivity are slim. Sometimes it works in Germany in big cities, but generally it doesn't. Although works in France very well. Mostly that frequency band isn't used by assigned e-sim operator.

Hi, my G30 with ID7 has Emergancy calls only and Update apps is grayed out. Do I write an email to BMW NA to enable roaming ? Also how can I check if I have ATM or ATM2?

Everything was working fine for me (Bulgaria,Sofia) with CA imported BMW. I had the app working, News, Weather. However, the card stopped updating July 23rd 2025.
Tried the 70 sec. restart - doesn't work. Seems like the car has been cut off from Network connection. It shows that it doesn't have access to the internet. Update app is greyed out. Car has Connected Services until 2027.

I don't have any idea how or why this happened. It's like I've been cut off from Roaming.

I’d like to share an issue I’ve encountered with my BMW X5, and I’m hoping someone with similar experience can offer insight or advice.

The vehicle was originally purchased in the United States and imported to Azerbaijan. No regional coding or software modifications have been made — everything remains in its original U.S. configuration. For over a year, ConnectedDrive functioned flawlessly in Azerbaijan. The car consistently communicated with the U.S. backend servers, all services were online, and everything worked as expected.

However, as of July 23, 2025, the MyBMW app stopped receiving updates. The last successful data sync was on that exact date. Interestingly, ISTA still shows that the embedded SIM is active, in roaming, and connected. No faults are reported — it appears the car is technically still online, but no data is being exchanged with the servers.

After reading several forum discussions, I came across a potential solution: replacing the U.S. telematics control unit (TCU) with a European one. Apparently, this could allow the car to switch over to European BMW backend servers, which are functioning properly. However, one major concern remains — the vehicle’s VIN is American, and from what I understand, U.S.-market cars cannot be added to the European ConnectedDrive infrastructure unless BMW’s global backend team explicitly enables it.

Has anyone actually gone through this process successfully? Is there any confirmed workaround for restoring ConnectedDrive functionality without replacing the TCU or changing the regional coding? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

So same situation like me. Since July 23rd I'm not allowed to provision in the mobile network, hence no network connectivity for the car.

What changed? Did BMW do something, restricting us?

Most likely. Guys, who can share the contact details of the vice president or president? I want to write to them and complain about their service. I have a purchase and sale agreement with BMW, as well as a connected drive agreement. If it is prohibited to use a car manufactured for the US market, then why did they sell me this car, knowing that I would be taking it outside the US? I want to escalate this issue and see it through to the end. If you share contacts, I will be very grateful.

Yep, I wrote to BMW Canada and they answered:

BMW and MINI offer a wide range of digital services like Navigation, Real-Time-Traffic-Information, Speed Limit Information, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and many others.

As you have purchased a Canadian specified vehicle, all of these services have been designed for use within the United States, Canada and some U.S Territories. If the vehicle is driven in other regions these digital services may not work properly or will not function at all.

Furthermore, if one or more digital services work properly when taking possession of the vehicle there is no guarantee that it is a stable condition, as it is possible that digital services stop working, for example due to a software update or differences in international cellular roaming availability if the vehicle is driven cross-border.

In the USA or Canada, the integrated telematics module, BMW Connected Drive, MINI Connected and the integrated features, are otherwise fully functional (but still may be subject to limitations such as related to cellular network capacity, topological and geographic conditions, or telematic equipment issues.)

If vehicle is already mapped to your BMW ID, please ensure to have the Canadian version of the App in order for remote services to be operational.

BMW dealers WILL NOT do this. I have tried with several in different countries. They could, but only for some close friends. Not for public or anyone random. They won't even sell TCB module. Just straight no. It might be that BMW HQ is pretty harsh on this topic. It's lame.

I am in absolutely the same situation. From the 23rd of July my car (2024 BMW X5 G05 LCI) stopped having connection to the server. My fathers car also from the same date (2024 X3 G01 LCI) and two friends cars (2022 G20 and 2023 X3 G01). Everyone of us stopped having connection on the 23rd (the X3 on the morning of the 24th). I have my car from not much time (two months) but the others have had no problems for an year. We also live in Sofia, Bulgaria. I have written to connectedDrive and also tried the 70 sec restart. I really hope that BMW hasn’t fucked us. I scanned the car with Ista, reset the TCB but no luck. The live data of the TCB says that there is no reception. The service function that ista suggested said that my SIM doesnt have a peofile loaded and that I have to drive the car to a place with reception and wait there for 15 minutes. I will know if there is reception when the Update apps and services is not grayed out, but so far no luck.

My friends with European cars have no problems at all.

Yeah, they decided to cut us off. I also checked ISTA+ and it's all fine but the module is not allowed to connect to the mobile network.
State shows "emergency calls only", it should show "logged in". Maybe we can try going to Romania or Greece.

Maybe, as being a new member, I'm not allowed to send and receive PM's. You can find me here.

I have imported a Canadian specs BMW X6 2021 model to Saudi Arabia

I managed to get the car added in my BMW App and activated a connect drive service with BMW in Canada with by BMW ID.

The issue is the the car doesn’t recognize any of the that. I can’t even link it to my BMW ID (only using local profile now). It seems that the car is totally discounted from the internet.

Any suggestion please ?
