B-1Pilot wroteI can only think Nicole was trying out daddy's Clio on the track, kidding. In 2013, in my brand new F10 M5 with just over 1300 eurodelivery miles on it and break in service done in Germany, I took in 3 laps on the 'ring. On the 3rd, some asshat in a Clio wrecked in front of me, bounced off the barrier and back across the track. The car directly on his tail made a nice move left. I was able to avoid as well, but drove over his car parts in the track. The video below is 12 year old gopro footage, so you cant see detail as well, but you can see why he lost control.
Though I paid for a 4th lap, I chose not to drive it; I didn't want my car or my experience ruined through no fault of my own. For what it was worth, there were 4 separate crashes on those three laps, and that was after waiting hours for other crashes to clear in the car park. Touristenfahrten is the German equivalent of the wild, wild west. I'd only drive that track again in someone else's car, or in a private / club event.
M5Rick wroteThanks, its a fascinating prospect and I'm amazed its allowed to be honest. Reckon I would pay more for the experience/privilege and appreciation goes out for all who work/volunteer there, as they would see the same mess everyday.Good luck if you do decide to do the trip
All are welcome there as he tries to say on the plate.. Willkommen

Being a tourist I'll take the advise in the first post and just hire a Mini for first time - first lappers. Think after needing eyes everywhere and if a decent lap is achieved, the fatigue on concertation will be showing by end of a second. I don't need an over supply of power to achieve flow or fun, and especially if worst happens.
Remembering to check mirrors while your in the zone looking as far ahead as possible will be the hardest bit for me, never been great at that.
How deflating though, you think your ripping a new lap time and ol mate sails past and disappears in two corners.
jaffles wroteThis. He keeps the steering straight instead of catching it quickly as he should have as soon as the car started to slide and pointing the steering in the direction of the road travel in a quick motion, you rightly pointed out he should have not have hit the brakes at that critical moment causing the weight transfer to head for the wall.6.20, lets dissect what's going on there. I'm no driver but has ol mate lost the rear and instead of just getting off the gas and steering out of the slide, has hit the brakes instead so a combination of momentum and steering puts him into the wall.
Furthermore he doesn't keep it turned down the track to have any hope of correcting.
It appears as soon as its wet it goes pear shaped for many.
helmet91 wroteWords to live by. .. Judging by all the Ring crash videos, BMW drivers are BY FAR the vast majority doing idiotic things... Especially E36 "racers" who think they drive Gt3 car that has 800kg of downforce that allows them to enter a corner at 160kmh...I wouldn’t cast any shade at Audi. There are PLENTY of idiotic BMW drivers at the ‘Ring. I would say there’s probably more. LOL
maticCRO wroteFrom what I see I can assume there are far more BMW's of varying types possibly nearly as much as the other makes put together at any one time on the TF so on a knock for knock risk basis it will always be that a BMW will be affected more not necessarily as an own fault incident.Words to live by. .. jaffles wroteHe turns in early (look at turn in point compared to the e90). Realised he was pushing wide, closed the throttle quickly (You can hear it), and suffered simple lift-off oversteer. He was too little, too late on the opposite lock also.6.20, lets dissect what's going on there. M5Rick wroteYou do still have insurance concerns, all rentals have an excess. It varies from 5k to well into 5 figures. When I drove Rent4Ring's Spyder RS earlier this year, the excess was €25k!Just in and as said, don't be gentle, it's a rental.
The RingFreaks yellow/black 3 series look great to go around here and no insurance worries with your own motor parked up.
kevinm03 wroteWoah there mate I'm only going by what I read as I've never been to the 'Ring. Anyone wanting knowledge on the ins and outs of going there would get official info from the Nordschleif office before booking don't you think?A prime example of why you shouldnt always trust Goggle/AI. You are great for posting videos and keeping this thread alive, but please dont post advice, you are misleading people.
