R N M, looks like a nice spec. The only thing you might consider is the Parking Assistance Package. The 360-degree cameras can be very helpful for parking in tight or unfamiliar spots.
The automatic parking feature is also awesome, I use it all the time. It will find and back into a shopping center parking spot or also find a spot on the street back in and park

I find I can manually back into a spot twice as fast as this feature. I do want to try one of these days the recordable path feature so I don't have to guess how far to pull in every time into the garage.

Truthfully I have not used this once in the past ten months of ownership.

I've had it on multiple cars and never used it. One time I did stand aside and remotely backed it out of the garage just for the heck of it. Driving your car, parking your car, getting to your destination from memory vs GPS is healthy brain work.

Similarly as to when it has been used on my X5, but it was during PCD. Performed as an example of what could be done.

For my other half who can't seem to pull into the garage properly ever, this would be a God send to let the car do it correctly every time via it's internal memory and take her horrible perception out of it!

The recordable path has been quite underwhelming, at least for our garage. I was able to record the path going into the garage but backing out, it always says object detected and stops moving, at which point I have to take control and back out. Similarly, we've never been able to get it to drive the recorded path to park either.

I don’t think I would ever use the parking feature but obviously my wife would find it helpful.

I tell my kids that not too long ago there were no rear view cameras in cars. I grew up in NYC so you had to be perfect with parallel parking not to get any bumper damage 😀

My 911 unfortunately has no camera and definitely miss this feature. Makes it much easier to back into my garage. Get to put my old skills to the test.

My F15 X5 was a 2017 and I had to pay $500 to option it with the rear camera that should have been standard. The following year, the last year of the F15, the rear camera was mandated by the Feds for MY18 vehicles so it was standard equipment, but there was a slight pricing increase. Imagine that… ID6 also arrived for the 2018 X5.

Took delivery of the car and very happy with my spec / options 👍
Only 5 Miles on the car so pretty much as new as you can get it. The custom ordering to delivery process that BMW has is just superb.

The Good
- Amazing powertrain. The B58 with the ZF is just magic. I was a bit worried coming from X3 M40i with the higher tuned B58. For some reason the X5 feels just as fast and even smoother acceleration. Couldn’t be more satisfied with it.
- Ride / Handling / Steering - The ride is firm but more compliant than my X3 even though this one has the 21in wheels. Handling is amazing with Msport susp, just solid and planted. Steering in comfort is very light at slow speeds but becomes heavier over 15mph or so. In Sport mode, it’s close to how heavy my X3 was. The steering feel is non-existent and feels overboosted but it is very direct at speed.
- Brakes - Msport brakes feel great with immediate bite and easy to modulate.
- Interior/Seats - Interior is very good with great build quality and materials. The multi-contour seats are amazing and probably the best seats you can get at any price range. The seating position is very good but i do wish the seats could be adjusted to go down a bit more. The interior is definitely a few steps above the X3 especially the seats!
- Massage Function - I know a lot of people think its not worth it but I personally think it’s pretty good and my wife wanted it. It’s not as good as good / strong as an Sclass but you can definitely feel it.

The Bad
- I HATE the LCI shifter. It is beyond terrible. I have to pinch my fingers to use it, just feels completely unnatural and weird. I also don’t have anywhere to rest my hand 👎
- The lack of physical HVAC controls. I veered of the lane twice trying to find heated seats and then trying to lower them. Just terrible. Also my wife hates reaching for the screen to adjust temperature. When you’re driving it actually involves a lot of focus to tap the right button.
- The Menus within menus are just way too much, very hard to get everything adjusted at first.
- Cost cutting on many features that were previously included like the comfort access on rear doors, M footrest pedal etc.

Overall it’s an amazing SUV - I purposely got the G05 generation as I knew the next gen X5 will have much worse interior and probably even more cost cutting. The new X3 M50i was terrible design and not an option.

Learn how to talk to the X5. Everything you mentioned can be done using voice commands.

Try using voice commands when im listening to music and 2 kids in the back, you can’t be serious when a simple button worked fine for decades to turn on the heated seats! This is a much worse experience for the user and cost savings to BMW.

I'll assume that you knew all of this going in to the LCI. If so, venting is good for the soul but adapting to the new environment, as difficult as it is sometimes, will bring you peace. Nice looking X5 you have there.

Knowing about it is one thing but actually trying to use the functions is when you really understand how bad and annoying it is.

And it is only going to worsen with ID 10 as BMW is moving towards even more voice functions.

Update now that i have some more time with it:
Getting more used to ID8.5 - all im missing is the HVAC controls. Just feel stupid talking to the car to raise temp or turn on heated seats 🤬

The Camera and NAV resolution/graphics are considerably better than ID7.

One thing i also dislike is the lack of customization on the gauge cluster. Why can’t BMW offer for a classic layout with basic round gauges. Mercedes and every other company gives you this option. The 2 layouts you can choose are both terrible and very hard to read 👎

Five weeks in, I am getting used to iD 8.5 as well, but not as intended. I am starting to give up doing anything but drive and listen to Presets (when it does not delete/hide them). I swear iD 5/6 had more effective voice control. (For one, it could navigate to a saved contact/favorite by name. iD 8.5 can't!)

I think the PerAss should be able to open every single menu just by saying the menu title or "open [menu title]". It doesn't for me. That should be very easy programming, and it'd facilitate submenu access. Try getting to the to tire pressure settings menu using only voice ctrl.

Funny thing about heated seats: tell PerAss that your butt is cold. That's one way to activate them. Nice parlor trick, but I'd rather have more utility.

You can set the heated seats and SW to automatically activate upon startup on colder mornings.

Can you add any shortcuts to make it easier? So you don't have to go through all the menu's for common tasks.
