On another note, Lewis Hamilton’s mindset seems a real issue. Not looking to re-evaluate his career achievements, but the man is just not in a good place. I’ve also never understood why he seems to overshare so much when he’s in a negative state of mind. I feel that he could leave his post race comments to “that was terrible, nothing else to say”
I think he's still pretty sane considering how his career went the past 5 years.
I mean, he used to win pretty much everything (ok he lost out to rosberg once and in the beginning of his career Vettel had his domination), but even then he used to be a solid top 5 driver.
But since '21, even top 5 seems to be a very difficult goal (he was 3rd in '23) and winning a race is an extremely rare occurance.
And since '21 he's pretty much outclassed by his teammates too ('23 the exception), so everything points to that he's a 2nd rank driver, not a top tier one anymore.
Chances of him winning that 8th wdc are now pretty much none.
That must be hard especially if you've won so much over so many years.

Imagine how Alonso feels :D (ok, he's not being catagorically outclassed by his teammates though)

I agree with all of that - I just find the pessimism around 2026 to be really challenging. Why tip your hat if that’s what you really feel? Wouldn’t it be better to quit Ferrari and do something else?

There's of course also that little thing of being paid 60 million a year (base salary!) and then being pessimistic....

Yeah….60 million reasons to be a little more up beat, but I don’t think he needs/does it for the money. He makes a lot of bank from his brand (deservedly) which ironically might be eroded a little by this sort of stuff. It seems kinda counter to “still we rise”.

$60MM but absolutely NO PERFORMANCE BONUSES!! And whenever Max signs a new deal, it will make 60 look like pocket change. Max will probably be the first to break the $100MM mark.

I think , they have sensors to monitor skid block wear .
No wonder they panicked realising the sensors beeped but it was too late, there's also the question about the how much fuel was left as that was not checked with the plank DSQ.

Stroll has no problem paying that kind of money, that's spare change for his Aramco backing...
And so can Toto, having sold off a few of his MERC stock recently....
Are we at the beginning of a bidding war? :D
The 2026 RB will probably be slow so Max won't have a problem to step out of his contract.

I'm a bit on the other side. I think RB is going to surprise everyone next year. The engines are not that different from the current and I believe the team they have, the original team who created the MB engine, Ford (who is doing amazing racing things with EV and in general), and the Honda engineers who created their current engine is a recipe I certainly think sounds like it has all the right ingredients. Time will tell...

Apparently (according to some youtuber) PIA was also told by his engineer to do more lift&coast around certain corners that are bumpy.

Wow, just watched the race and I'm catching up now. Figured the WDC was over and now it's completely on again between 3 drivers. Fantastic!! :D

not sure if everybody realises, the biggest benefactor of this stuff up is Oscar Piastri.

Which means despite his terrible performance in Vegas, Oscar remains within 24 points of Lando instead of 30 points.

Of course he shares that privilege with Max, but Oscar has very little pressure. He is not expected to win anymore. Lando is being hunted. Max is expected to win (though Max doesn't care about pressure, he will show up and just do his thing when it matters).

Now whether Oscar can find is baby faced assassin form remains to be seen, but this weekend has been a very good weekend for Oscar. All cock ups, no responsibility.

biggest loser, Lando. we all thought he had it all wrapped up after his P2.

I still don't think Oscar has it in him after the terrible run, but this weekend was massive for all of the 3

why McLaren keeps trying to learn from Ferrari I don't know, but they are doing their best to copy the Italians

Lando's intention was to push MAX against the wall (!)

Maybe not the wall but he realised in a split second that he better not go any further as the stewards were ready watching and so was George :)

The big question now is if NOR and/or PIA will be having fresh PU's at this late stage. Actually it's a good one for the bookies.
