I struggled to find a guide for how to replace the part (lots for E40 and a few for F15, but none that I could find for G05).
First post here, but thought I'd document the process for anyone else in the same boat as me!
This was very easy to do, a lot easier from what I can see, than the previous gens.
Part info:
- Part Number: 51477479947
- Description: Loading sill cover
- Quantity: 1
- Price: £ 122.04 + VAT
- I have ordered a number of items from this UK dealer, who is very responsive and quick to ship (didn't really shop around much since I trust them to get it right!)
Tools needed:
- Flat head screwdriver
- TORX T15 screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Pop out the Seven (7) plastic clips keeping the netting holder in place using a flat head screwdriver:
2. Remove the Four (4) T15 screws from the back side of the part
3. [Optional] I pulled off the covers to the bottom sill hooks to make it easier to remove the sill cover.
4. Thats basically it, the old one slides out (pull it towards the front of the car) and then put the new one back in and re attached all the fasteners. Only gotcha for me was that I failed to hook in the metal springs into their holders on the new part the first time, but luckily I had tested the boot opening/closing before I screwed everything back in.
Voila, like new!:
