Hello all - new member to the BMW family (X5 40i) and first time poster.

Firstly, thank you to Scott Smith for an easy ordering process...!

Questions for the forum... I called the Genius helpline this morning and they've updated me that my status has now reached 153. Do we have any estimates of when the PCD may be scheduled? I understand this is dependent on the PCD's availability, but am curious if I should estimate 2 weeks, or months rather...? (based on others experience)

And separately, I've contacted the dealer last week to try and initiate an change/upgrade to the Wheels spec (to the 741M) and they mentioned "They said you would have to pay for a different wheel option in the VIA section if there was any that you like they can switch them at the port." I'm not sure what this means, so I asked Genius and they said it may be possible and recommended I contact the dealer again to "escalate" the inquiry with the area sales manager.

Anyway, just curious if anybody has any insight to provide. Thank you in advance!

Can't speak to PCD for Spartanburg production as my experience has only been with German built vehicles and they have to clear the work order performed at the port of entry first to schedule. And that has been ~3 weeks after that.

If I had to guess, probably a similar time frame from when production ends in your case. Maybe 3-4 weeks.

As for your wheel request, it can't be done as the car is already in production. The time to do that was before it entered 150. It 'might' be possible to add wheels from the vehicle installed accessory (VIA) options--but they won't be any wheels you can get when ordering a vehicle. They'll be M Performance wheels. But this may be too late in the process to add even that.

153 should be assembly, thus too late to revise the order. Mine was at the Ohio dealer 7 days after achieving 153, including a weekend. Should not be long now.

FYI
112 - Order scheduled for Production (Up to this point you can usually make changes to your order. Once it goes into the next status, 150, the vehicle is already on the assembly line and cannot be changed.)

It is correct that you can make changes for non-Individual orders up until it hits 150 but that is not correct as far assembly goes. 150 does not mean assembly has begun but rather that a VIN has been assigned and parts ordered/allocation. Assembly occurs on the production date and takes about four hours. The status will go to 153 when it enters the assembly line.

I appreciate all the insight, thank you!

Considering the feedback, I'm assuming the wheel update is a no-go at this point (may look into swapping them after the car arrives, if i can sell or trade the wheels I originally spec'd).

This morning I logged back into the "MyGarage" dashboard and I see the status is stuck in "2 Scheduled for Production" phase (which it has been for over 10 days now). I spoke with my dealer last night and he said the status is 153 and the vehicle should complete production shortly. Is it normal for the MyGarage dash to not be updated? He was also able to provide me my VIN, which doesn't show in the dashboard either...

I've seen people post screenshots in this forum of their build status (with the codes included). How do I obtain this view?

Thank you all again for your support

MyGarage only gets updated once a day typically, so it can lag reality. Your dealer sees the BMW ERP data which is updated in real time.

If it's at 153 today, it will flip to 155 by tomorrow and if there's no quality issues will likely jump to 181 Awaiting carrier assignment. At that point the Performance Center should be reaching out to your CA with delivery date options. Most PCD dates are scheduled 2 to 4 weeks ahead.

It would be very odd if you were in 153 and never saw the two weeks of being in 150. Give Genius a call and see what they say.

I just now received an email from the dealer/Performance Center for PCD availability of March 12th (YESSS! Working with the family now to confirm).

Unfortunately the note included "...Please note no plant tours will be available on this date (plant tours are in blackout until Summer 2026), however a guided tour of the BMW Zentrum Museum will be included."

Since when I first created the MyGarage profile, I would check daily and the status never changed from "Scheduled for Production", odd... I even tried different browsers to see if it was a cache issue, nope

My order was 4 weeks from order date to build, then 4 weeks for PCD schedule. That was mid-last year.
The museum is interesting, but I liked the skid pad, track and the overland course are definitely the highlights. That and getting acquainted with your new toy with a BMW engineer.

You're almost there!!

A lot of my clients have been having trouble with MyGarage. Almost every build we do now, the production number pulls up the wrong specs, it's too bad, the website was working perfectly and very accurate for a while, but for the last 2 months or so, everything is off.

Despite us being past this, I want to address it for the future for anyone else who sees this. Once a car is in 150 status, nothing at all can be changed, as the car would have started being made at that point.

What the dealer was offering was for you to pick a VIA/Port Installed accessory wheel, as that technically is in their control. Post production starting, dealers can still modify options that are accessories installed after the car is made, such as all weather mats, cargo liners, and even some secondary wheel sets that BMW offers thru that program.

Thank you again smithf80's user avatarsmithf80 less than 2 weeks now!

Now I understand about the VIA options. I tried to check their Acessories website, and very limited wheel options, but hoping they?ll have some more options I?m not seeing online.

Your car (assuming this is who I think it is) is indeed in 150 showing a 3/3 completion date as of now, so you'll probably get contacted about finalizing a date soon. Just called and got that fresh off the press from the dealer for you.

Excited for you both!
