Has anyone had any experience chancing the rear diffuser on an X5/X6? I want a diffuser with exhaust tips but aren’t sure if your able to change the diffuser or you have to change the entire rear bumper. Thanks.

Few screws, few rivets and you should be good to go.

Have you tried searching the forum? I’m sure there’s a few threads on diffusers

If you have the M Sport package then an aftermarket diffuser will replace your diffuser but you will keep your existing rear bumper.

Do you have an X5 or X6? Does it have an MSport package? If so, you should be able to change the diffuser.

We carry some on our website:

Swapped my rear diffuser for this gloss black m performance replica. Flea bay special. My take:

-the plastic quality might be a step down from the genuine part but not by a lot and I'm being nit picky
-fits perfect but I do see a slight gap at the top. Again being nit picky and I'm not real sure the original part didn't have the same tiny gap. You can't see it unless you're bending down looking for it.
-it has a really high gloss sheen to the paint. No idea of the quality of paint but seems nice. Time will tell. I put a few coats of sealant and wax on it. My original piece had ppf on it but I'm def not covering the aftermarket part. There are a couple spots in the paint that have a cluster of little pointy bubbles. Not sure if bubbles is the right word. I wouldn't have accepted that if this was painted at a body shop but I'm sure they could be sanded and polished out. For $103 it didn't bother me.

Overall, I'd say for the money I'm very happy with it. I'm usually a "keep it original" fan or always have to use OE genuine parts but wanted to see if I liked the look first before I dropped a lot on the carbon M performance part. To me this part should've been black from the factory. The install was so easy. I'm def adding this to the red X5 I have on order.

I'll add a link if anyone wants it.

Here you go.

So far so good, but, I haven't driven all that many miles with it yet.

I got the RW Carbon M Performance style diffuser. Quality is good but couple of the holes did not line up perfectly with the OEM screw holes.

Additionally, the 2 holes for the rivets were too small for the rivet. I should have tested before mounting on first. Simple drill to expand the hole would fix.

For those who get this diffuser, make sure to test fit the rivets first before mounting.

For now it's secured on with the 2x 8mm and 4x 10mm screws. Maybe will remove and fix the rivet holes in the future.

Getting prepared for more snow to get dumped on us tomorrow.

Have a rear diffuser from NWCarbon Haus which really ties in with quad exhaust tips.

A few comments up I posted a link. Bought my second one this week for our 2026. I initially spent $1300 for the BMW OE carbon fiber diffuser but ended up returning it as the look wasn't for me.

I was asking about the roof spoiler. I don’t see a link for that. Were you mistaken about diffuser. Thanks

That's the X5MC spoiler. Tons of threads and discussion on here. I can post links later but do a quick search should bring up lots of info.

nycboy's user avatarnycboy did you install this yourself? I tried to install a similar rear diffuser that includes the exhaust surrounds and couldn't figure out how to do it. I couldn't get the original off. The small diffuser in the middle I could, but not the part that extends around the exhaust.

No, I had my indy shop install the rear diffuser.

The rectangular piper trim (matte black) which was bought as part of the MPE was removed to fit the quad exhaust tips.

Where did you find the installation instructions for your diffuser? I just ordered the exact same one Thanks!

There are none but you can see from the diffuser you bought it has a handful of screws on the bottom and 2 rivets. The top part and sides attach with little tabs. Just remove all the screws and drill out the 2 rivets. Use a drill bit about the size of the rivet center pin. The top and side tabs pull straight out without much of a fuss. Install in reverse order. You really don't need those 2 rivets to hold it on so I'm not sure why BMW designed it with those. But if you do replace them you'll need 2 rivets you can get from your dealer or any rivet will work that fits that size. And of course you'll need a rivet gun as well.
