Rfsbranch wroteNo Worries. I have a 2025 Cayenne GTS and came from a 2023 X6MC. You will like the Cayenne for the handling, but just be prepared for electronic gremlins. The GTS is a great vehicle. BMW lost me over a failed transfer case dispute. They wouldn't replace under warranty until I began legal action. No regrets buying the Cayenne GTS.I’m really not price sensitive and accept the depreciation. I’m not willing to throw much more money into the X5 and that’s probably a very conservative estimate.
I hope to keep the Cayenne from 6-10 years if it’s great.
Have to decide whether to trade in the X5 or sell privately or to Carmax that offered me 42,500. Obviously if I trade it, it comes off the 150,000 purchase price with sales tax savings. Need to shop it more. Seems like the pre 2023 models are more desirable. Mine is in pristine condition and has a brand spanking new front diff done by the dealer 😏!
BimmerXdrive wroteNot even fluid change is covered; I believe there is a class action lawsuit about that. I do think that some people have gotten new transfer cases after paying out of pocket for a fluid change. Is transfer case fluid change or repair covered under an extended bmw platinum warranty? Or only covered under original 4 year warranty ?
Deckard wroteMy 2020 X5 m50i TC was serviced under warranty, but now the car has 59k miles and the problem is back. The SB says if it was serviced under warranty then it is covered (page 4), but now I have front diff grinder symptoms which are no doubt caused by the faulty TC. Looks like I'm in for a battle.
Yet another victim of low mileage powertrain failures. Not sure what the TC costs to replace but my front differential was $11k and failed at 36k miles. What a disgrace BMW is building these crappy vehicles and leaving customers holding the bag.
It would be great to see how many cars (% wise) are affected. This makes extended warranty conversation potentially valid.
